LVG was an entertaining and fun manager, his football was boring but his interviews were always entertaining and his dive on the pitch was the best thing I've seen on a pitch in ages. I'm happy he won the FA cup. Jose is a scary signing, LVG was discovering talent in the youth with Martial, Rashford and lingard and I hope Jose doesn't just ignore them, but missing out on Jose when LVG is guaranteed to retire next year would be stupid. If Jose cannot take the fight to pep though I don't know who can, next season is going to be great to watch.

I don't think Jose is a can't miss coach anymore tbh. If you waited one year you could have tried to lure a coach like Unai or Simeone .Both are excellent and could have been better specially for Long term

Jose has had a blip, and is not a classy guy, but he is proven in the league. I don't think any foreign manager will be long term anymore, LVG has also never really delivered success at a major club since Ajax, and think he has done all he can do considering he didn't get top 4. He was given a group of broken players and has left with a team with a taste of success which hopefully a proven manager like Jose can develop, still think LVG done a good job in leaving a team with a direction which we lacked under Moyes.

Better than mid-season like City and Pep. And worse still as pep was managing other team while Mou wasn't.

I would actually take City situation over announcing a new coach when the current one just won the 1st trophy the club won in 3 years while he still have one year left in contract.

Man Utd have no class. Similar to Chelsea in many ways. They pretend to have class but are a plastic club with plastic fans based in London.

Hopefully José will get Utd relegated or something similar to Chelsea's situation. Pep will be pissed off. Mourinho wore him down with his antics in Spain and now he has to put up with it in England!

Good choice by United to hire Mourinho.. He is quick solution before some long-term manager takes over (Giggs?)

United is nowhere near as plastic as Chelsea or City. Every successful club has a large and widespread fanbase. And IMHO there's nothing wrong with that. The difference between Chelsea and United (not to mention other big name clubs like Barca, Bayern, etc) is United earned money (and their large fanbase) through success, while Chelsea bought success through money that was handed to them. That's what makes Chelsea a plastic club.

Glad Mou won't be in the CL next year though.

Really, Really annoyed about the timing of this. I think its been established that it was Mendes who leaked it, if true what a bellend. LVG and Jose are friends and he was his mentor, i can only imagine how badly betrayed he is feeling. Give the man a week or so to celebrate, keeps things hush then give him a nice retirement present and he can go to his villa in portugal and retire on a high.

I suppose united fans are going to have to accept how the club is becoming nowadays as its what we have to do to compete with the big boys. We have been far too stuck up are own arses for to long with the whole "united do things differently". Sir Alex was a once of. Will never be emulated again.

Im excited about the jose appointment and am looking forward to next season now but its left a bad taste in my mouth.

Oh and What a day yesterday. 12 years was far too long.

I think United need to get out of this mentality that they need a long-term manager. SAF was the exception that proved the rule, the top teams change managers all the time, and if they keep waiting around for another SAF to appear they'll be left behind. Hiring Mourinho is a no-brainer in my view.

Out of top class manager left Mourinho is the best.. They were too slow with Pep and Ancelotti wich would both be better solution but also Mourinho is OK.. Will be nice to see Pep vs Mourinho again..

" Van Gaal started sending the players individual emails detailing their faults and submitting video clips to highlight his dissatisfaction. Except by that stage a lot of the players were so disillusioned many ignored the emails or redirected them straight to their trash. Van Gaal suspected as much and had a tracker fitted so he could check if the emails were opened and for how long. It became a game of cat and mouse. Some players opened the emails on their mobiles, then left their phones on the side and wandered off for 20 minutes"

 Iniesta also said in an Interview that Van Gaal even wanted to control what outfits the player should wear
