A small exercise for those so inclined

Suppose you're a United SD or board
Rodrygo wants to leave and Real are willing to sell
Are you interested and if so, a) where would you play him and b) how much are you willing to pay to close the deal

If I'm United's SD, I would personally veto any Rodrygo purchase and go all in for Ferran Torres but then again I despise that club.

Madrid should expect 80mil+ afterall this is the team that buys your washed over the hill players for 60mil+, Antony for 80mil and Hojlund was like, what, 70mil+?

As for where he plays, he would immediately replace Garnacho who, imo, isn't going to end up a top player, very low iq.

Rashford - Hojlund - Rodrygo with Gyokeres in mind to be the starter striker and Hojlund backup.

I think if Rodrygo leave Madrid, he wants to go somewhere and play in his favourite/best position, which is off the left.

Indeed, reasonable
Assuming you're the SD and prioritise accordingly - do you spend on him to play ahead of what they have for LW and shaft them to the opposite flank/sell?

If I were, yea because I rate rodrygo higher than most, he has another half a level he can step up, If he plays LW consistently.

He's definitely better than rashford.

So it would be

Rodrygo ST Garnacho

Contract until 2027 with an additional year (club option).

Feels like a short contract for such a huge project. Won't get results instantly for sure.

I think they're being more careful now - especially with their financial woes. They don't wanna be stuck with him if it turns out terrible.

Starts officially on the 11th, apparently. I wonder when his first game will be. Probably Ipswich away on the 24th after the interlull.

They have doubts as Amorim was only a bit decent as a player, while has questionable EQ over his decision making on the Liverpool job.

He's a solid manager, but if apple maps tells him to go straight, while the street signs say the bridge is out, will he still go forward?

Yes to be honest with you Porque, I am not convinced myself.

I think he can do well, but the jury is very much out. It wouldn't be a surprise if it all goes tits up again.

I think he can do well. His record at Sporting was excellent though they had a generation and astute signings. Plus I think Benfica and the Port kind of dipped in their cycles.

It's a shame for him that they did not bring him with Viana. With the way INEOS panicked with Hag, there is always the chance that they go from Dutch Express to Portuguese from Wish to fill the squad with guys Amorim is comfortable to be in charge of.
