United had the toughest start to the season compared to the other big boys, it's only October.. will pick up points.

^ Tough start where they failed in. Drew against Chelsea at home, lost at Anfield, demolished by City. After that they were predicted to have an easier run of fixtures but they dropped 5 points against West Brom and Southampton at home...
2 games everyone expected them to win. manu should be "in crisis".

United look weaker than the other teams at the top of the table though....Moyes is out of his depth and it shows, in every way really

This is not the same Manchester United anymore, filled by average overrated players of Valencia Ashley Young Nani Cleverly Welbeck a defence with a 34 years old Ferdinand who clearly can't compete anymore and Vidic who is an injury prone player but still not the same player he used to be in 2011 days. Carried mostly by RVP and Rooney but that didn't happen for example in the Manchester Derby, RVP and Rooney couldn't do it all themselves. And even in 2012-2013 season they had last minutes winner in some games and Hernandez to come in as super sub to score. Before finding any excuse of defending Moyes i think everybody should consider the fact that Moyes may not be a coach for a big project, personally for me he's a small minded manager with not so many ideas of finding something different when struggling, even when the other wingers didn't perform he hasn't played Zaha since the Community Shield...

It was always going to be tough against Southampton but by now most teams know that pressing is our achilles heel and we need to adapt our tactics to play against such teams....First thing I'd do is Change the Formation to 4-2-3-1 and play Kagawa Rooney and Janujaz behind RVP.....plus Fellaini should be below Cleverly in the Pecking order.......

yes united struggle against teams that press high and close down quickly, but signing fellaini has made that problem worse, carrick-fellaini in centre mid is very slow, no energy or mobility. fellaini is not good enough to play in central midfield for us and carrick is getting old, the central midfield issue has been made worse with the fellaini signing rather then better. i would rather have jones in centre mid then fellaini, at least jones is mobile and can run around. i shudder at the thought of carrick-fellaini in midfield against the pressing game of bayern, dortmund, barcelona, they won't get out of there own half the whole game...

Chelsea have had harder fixtures.

Who? They have had tottenham and everton away admittedly really difficult, but we have had liverpool twice, at anfield in the league as well. Chelsea at home which we bottled, city away at etihad, swansea away which is always difficult. Our two hardest games of the season against our bitter rivals in the space of two weeks, i would say it would be easier from here but we are struggling against everyone now .

I can still see a top 4 position depending on how we pick it up, we still seem as lethargic as we did in those games after we won the league, worrying to say the least.

SAF didn't exactly make it easy either. What sort of squad did he leave him with? They have one great midfielder and that's Carrick who's not exactly getting any younger.

The rest of the midfielders are just average.

To be honest, the fact that SAF managed to win the league with this United team is an amazing achievement. Just proves what a brilliant manager he was. It obviously is a good team of course, but on paper, is it good enough to dominate the league like it did? No way.

For now, Moyes should start playing Cleverley again, he's better suited to playing with Carrick. Fellaini hasn't exactly been impressive. I'm not surprised either. He was the wrong type of midfielder. They really needed a mobile box to box midfielder. Not Fellaini.

I still think you should give Moyes some time. SAF asked for one thing and that was to stand by the new manager, which already seem to be forgotten.

But hey! I'm no United fan, I don't really care but I think there's too much exaggeration going on.

But he had whole summer to fix the squad...If you add one world class midfielder and one decent winger the squad will be good enough to challenge for the league...I agree with you on Cleverly because he is capable of playing at higher tempo and he can carry the ball forward and get it to our strikers.....Fellaini struggles to get the ball out of our own box and Moyes made the decision to sign him despite being aware of his deficiencies...That's the reason Moyes has to take some blame for poor start...Our strikers are still good enough but the service they are getting is awful...RVP must be regretting his decision to leave Arsenal........

Well, during these last years, not even SAF managed to sign a good midfielder either. But yes, of course, the failure to sign Herrera was unprofessional. Not sure who to blame though.
Moyes is obviously to blame for signing Fellaini. I'm sure he'll be better soon, just need a way to fit him into the team. However, it's still such a weird signing.

Haha ye, I'd love to see RVP playing for Arsenal again. Imagine the chances he'd get.

And how do know he's regretting it? You can't predict anything for the future, how could he know if Arsenal was going to improve or not? at that time Arsenal wasn't an attractive club. But now just because they are playing well it means that he regretted his decision of leaving and if they play bad he won't be interested again?

Both of your left and right wing aren't complete, so you need two. I see you don't mention problems about defence, you still think that Ferdinand - Vidic is a world class partnership? Or that you can rely in the likes of Smalling, Jones and Evans that i can't say they are the worst but definitelly not showing signs of being world class defenders.

Sir Alex was too stubborn to sign a midfielder but for Moyes midfield was top priority so, he should've done better than Fellaini......Signing no one would've been better because we could spend that money on Herrera and Koke in january....

That, I agree with. Cleverley is still pretty average, but still useful in some way.

So, is anyone expecting Sir Alex to drop any bombshells in his book coming out today? Or will he save all the good stuff for his next book?

I know that the embargo on the boo is set to be lifted at 2pm and that Moyes' press conference was moved back to 1.30pm so that no one would be able to ask him questions about the book, which makes me suspect there might be some big revelation in there, or I could just be talking out of my arse. I guess we'll see in a couple of hours once articles start dropping. ,
