a kid like Marquinhos

i

That's some kid. In 2 years, Marquinhos is gonna be better than Thiago Silva. He's 19 and he's a lot better than Bartra, who's 22. In fact, if we get Marquinhos, it will be the best thing Vilanova and Rosell have ever done for Barcelona.

^ You seem to know everything in football for the next two years. Can you tell me if Barca is gonna win the treble twice in a row ? Would love to make some money. ;)

@sabby, I don't know everything, but Marquinhos is playing at a top side in Serie A and he's only 19. You don't have to be Nostradamus to see what a good player he already is and what a leader will become in a few years time. Best player on the field in Roma-Inter derby and he is not even allowed to drink alcohol in some countries. Immense talent in my mind.

I am not a Bartra fan boy, But what I have seen this season, he's got the talent and heart to be a very high quality CB one day. Consider that he was sidelined in the bench by Tito even when our first choice CBs were out including a DM converted CB and Tito chose Adriano over Bartra at CB. Imagine what that will do to a promising CB's confidence, especially when he was nominated the best CB in segunda league. And then he gets thrown out in front of the big guns at CL big matches and he manages to do quite well except a few errors here and there. When everybody was hyping Inigo Martinez here, I was curious to see how is that guy in the U21 EURO cup and guess what, Bartra turned out to be quite a bit better than him. There is a huge difference between the methods of nurturing young attackers, playmakers and defenders. Defenders get better after experiences, real match experiences and proper guidance. Take Pique for example, he's got so much experience and was lebeled as one of the best World Class CB and now see how he performs without Puyol. Make Bartra a 1st choice CB in any league for a team and give him a full season - I'm sure he'll turn out to be at least equal as the other young defenders in the world right now. Tito gets a big zero in developing youngsters from La Masia in his first season. Hope he gets better health and better tactics this season - otherwise he would be no different than Mancini.

Applause. Especially the part in bold is true and a lot of people often forget that.

No way on earth would Bartra be the equal of any young center back in the world if given experience! That is just ridiculous.

He was terrible in the two Bayern games no need to try and act as if he wasnt to suit your argument.

Also at the euros playing center back for Spain must have been the easiest gig going. Granted he did look better than Martinez but that was down to Martinez errors when neither really had much to do. It was not down to Bartra being brilliant defensively.

Dont forget Pep never looked to call on him or promote him to the first team when they were short of CB's.

People seem to make out that Bartra is a world class CB that has been held back by Tito. That is just a joke.

good post, you can't be voted best defender in the 2nd division 2 times when your pretty much still a kid and not have something about you, even if he isn't good enough to be first choice, with playing time he certainly can develop into an excellent 3/4th choice cb

Yes you can. You could easily be voted the best defender in that league and nowhere near good enough for Barcelona first team.

If he was that good why did Pep not use him instead of converted midfielders?

anyway great post.

Bartra, Montoya, Tello etc all increased the number of games they played than before.

Thiago played less due to the change back to a 3-4-3 and the fact that he would not stop trying stupid things in risky areas of the park.

There goes JamDav again... do you have a beeper somewhere in your house that starts ringing when someone says something positive about Bartra, or negative about Sanchez or Tito?
