Marc Bartra

He will/should get his chance on 26th Oct.
I would play Bartra in Abidal's role (Right instead of left) + Pique and Masche/Puyol (whoever is ready) vs RM.

Valdes
Bartra Pique Puyol/Masche Adriano
Xavi Busquets Iniesta
Alexis Messi Neymar

this would be my lineup vs Madrid.

You want to put Barta up against Ronaldo?

He would get destroyed and not offer nearly as much going forward as other players.

You have to play against the best players in the world to improve, at one point he has to play these games. He's in form and confident now, this is the best time to give him the chance to prove himself against the big teams.

Ronaldo has demolished both Alves and Pique in the last Clásico's so I don't think we've got much to lose.

That makes no sense at all.

Could say that about any player to play then why not just some b team player.

Madrid would love it if Alves was dropped at RB for Bartra.

Maybe but not at right back ahead of Alves.
People always talk about buying a new CB, I think not having a tall more defensive minded fullback like Abidal is our real problem.
We did well in 2010-11 without Puyol and with Masche+Pique as centerbacks, but we had ABIDAL. He used to cover for both, and help at defending set pieces and counters [now we have 2 attacking minded FBs].

I think Bartra could play this role [at least we should try him in this role]. Plus, playing him at RB alongside 2 CBs should be easier than playing with 1 CB and a FB who leaves a lot spaces behind him to cover.

I was talking about dropping Pique for Bartra and how I think that would be a great idea, we have all seen how much better Bartra has been so far.

Bartra has never ever shown that he can play full back at a high level but you want to test it against Madrid? And putting him up against their best player.

No chance will that happen and for good reason.

Bartra's debut for Barcelona was against Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon, he played as a Right back and did well.
Bartra used to play as a RB, CB and DM for the B Team. It won't be his 1st time :)

Anyway, I don't think Tata will do it and put Alves on the bench against Madrid. But, IMO he should try it... Bartra could be the solution...
The problem is that if we tried it against other Liga teams, its useless. In fact, we need 2 attacking full backs against the likes of Levante, Almeria, Osasuna etc...
The problem is against Real Madrid/Bayern and you can only know if it will work, if you tried it against these teams...

Who cares where player played for the b team and he was predominantly a CB anyway.

I said he had never proved he can play RB at a high level, one game in the past doesnt change that.

Bartra can play as a Right back and to know if he can play it at high level against big teams. You have to try him against these teams.
Again its useless to try him against lower teams...

By the way, with Abidal Barcelona used to play with 3 CBs at the back. He rarely went forward and Bartra's role should be similar. He doesn't have to go forward (this is the key point, in fact he shouldn't). Bartra would be playing the same role he's playing now as a CB instead of having a RB who leaves a lot of spaces behind [Alves] on his right and no one behind him, Bartra will have a CB behind him to support [Pique]...

Bartra Pique Puyol
Busquets
Xavi Iniesta Adriano
Messi Alexis Neymar
