Bad move, even if he is better than Busi
He turns 31, I don't want another soon to be veteran at DM

We lost out on good options recently who are overpriced now, like Enzo
We have to be brave to find the next DM, and bet on some promising upcoming player
You can't get quality at prime age with no money

It's a great stop gap. We basically trade a useless player for us for a starter. But I have my doubts about it happening.

Then we could focus on RB and LW. At worst, Kounde plays RB for another season and we go for a big money LW move after selling one of our attackers.

No chance Brazzervic starts over Busi though.

More chances of Xavi pairing him with Busi, convincing Busi extending and the club returning to the financial aid that a Frenkie sale can bring. Maybe they throw the UTD game just to push this (Im joking 85.3% on this last point). Coz we know Pedri and Gavi won't be getting sold. They are the symbols of the Barca way and the future.

Yea this is a very likely scenario if we manage to pull this deal off.

No one at club is that dumb.

Frenkie is the best mid they have and only Pedri is close.

The best Barca have been under Xavi has always been with FDJ in midfield and making team tick.

He tried FDJ out in EL... it backfired.. He tried it in CL.. it backfired.

Tries it again then FDJ is best going elsewhere to one of the many top clubs that will snap him up.

It's really up to Inter, I think. They obviously want to sell to the highest bidder and that's not us.

Brozovic needs to hold firm and we have to do what we can to make it happen.

Obviously both sides want it.

Any reliable source claiming Brozovic wants us over Saudi money?

From Croatian newspapers: (Google translate):
"Gianluca Di Marzio, one of the greatest connoisseurs of the mercato, announced:

"Brozović prefers Barcelona, which wants him very much, but due to the difficult financial situation, has not yet sent an official offer to Inter. That's why Brozović and his manager are making a maneuver and stalling with the Saudis in order to give Barca more time. Al Nassr is offering Brozović a three-year contract with a salary of 20 million euros per year, but Brozović replies that he wants to sign for only two years with a salary of 30 million euros per year."

The Catalans add: "Barcelona loves Brozović very much, but they can't even come close to what the Saudis are offering him. Moreover, they have to do a lot in order to be able to send an offer to Inter and their Croat. That's why Barcelona is intensively analyzing how much they can stretch their already spent finances in order to brought Brozović.

First operative Mateu Alemany and Deco, who has not yet formally become sports director, are working day and night to conclude the transfer. Deco is in constant contact with Brozović's agent in order to find out in detail his and the player's demands and stop the deal with Saudi Arabia, while Alemany is analyzing how to fit the bringing of Brozović into the salary budget. For that, it is necessary to sell some players."

Another key Barca player is ready to throw himself at Brozović. Catalan journalists reveal why he is still waiting: "Xavi has a great desire for Brozović, but he has not yet made his move. He called Brozović and convinced him to come to Barcelona. It is also clear why, as long as the coach does not have information from the club that the operation is economically feasible , he will not be involved. As soon as Alemany and Deco tell him that he is, he will do what he did with Ilkay Gündogan. He will immediately dial Brozovic's number."

While waiting for Brozović to contact them, Al Nassr turned to a great alternative. This is Seko Fofana, captain of Lens. Two years younger than Brozović, he played a top season, in which with nine goals and six assists he contributed to the second place in the championship, behind untouchable PSG. Lens has officially confirmed that it has started negotiations with Al Nassr regarding this transfer.

From Croatian newspapers today:
TLDR: Barca offered 7m per year, Al Nassr offered 30m, but Brozovic still prefers Barca. Apparently Xavi has called Brozo and told him that he wants him and now Brozo is hiding in Zagreb/Croatia from Al Nassr agents and hoping that Barca will quickly find funds for his transfer. He can wait for 1 week, apparently.
Al Nassr has also moved to a new target instead of Brozovic.

Full article, Google translate:
AL NASSR seems tired of waiting for Marcelo Brozović. Last weekend, the representatives of the Saudi club came to Milan for final negotiations, and on Sunday they agreed everything with Inter, who accepted 23 million euros in compensation. They expected that they would easily come to an agreement with Brozović (30), to whom they offered 60 million euros for those three years.

But Brozović refused because he wanted to become the highest paid Croatian footballer in 2 years. Namely, he asked for 30 million euros per year and a two-year contract. Three days of calm followed, but because Brozović prefers Barcelona to Cristiano Ronaldo's Saudi club. He would go there for much less money. However, Barca, which wants him very much, is currently in such a situation that cannot send an offer for Brozović, let alone guarantee the player's salary.

That's why she has to sell players in order to be able to buy Brozović at all, a big wish of coach Xavi. Of course, Al Nassr knows that Brozović is the second choice, so he also turned to an alternative, and a great one at that. The French media revealed yesterday that it was Seko Fofana, the captain of Lens. Two years younger than Brozović, he played a top season, in which with nine goals and six assists he contributed to the second place in the championship, behind untouchable PSG. Lens officially confirmed yesterday that it has started negotiations with Al Nassr regarding this transfer.

It seems that they were completed quickly and fruitfully. Santi Aouna, one of the most reliable sources from the French market, announced that verbal agreements have been reached between Al Nassr and Fofana, and Al Nassr and Lens. "The French runner-up will receive a little more than 30 million euros in compensation. Everything has been agreed and only the signature is expected." Fofana excelled in three seasons in France. In 112 games, he scored 21 goals and 12 assists, and he especially stands out in big games. That's why in two out of three seasons in Lens, he was selected to the ideal Ligue 1 team. PSG and Marseille wanted him, but they couldn't match the offer of the club backed by Saudi Arabia.

Brozović thus got what he wanted, Al Nassr found a replacement for him, and Inter's ace came closer to his wish for Barcelona. Gazzetta dello Sport states that Brozović agreed everything with Barcelona and that Xavi's call was decisive. The coach of Barca called him and told him how much he wanted him, which won Brozović over. The aforementioned source states that the Croatian midfielder agreed to Barcelona's offer of 7 million euros in annual salary.

"That's only a third of what Al Nassr is offering him, but also a million more than the amount he receives annually at Inter", Gazzetta writes and adds: "Brozović wants to go to Barcelona so much that he has been hiding from Al Nassr representatives for a week in Zagreb because is afraid that they will agree to his impossible conditions of 30 million euros per year". However, the Italians point out a huge obstacle on the way to the realization of Brozović's and Barcelona's mutual desire: "Barca is in such a financial situation that it can buy and register Brozović only if it sells a couple of players first. It needs time for that, and Brozović gave it to them week."
