That would indeed be an insanely good squad... Lead by Simeone. Man, Atletico would be epic to watch with Reus, I hope it happens! :)

The journalist Juan Gato, who reports on Atletico daily says Atletico is the only team that has closed an agreement with Marco Reus. He says that Reus will join Atletico in the summer, unless something unexpected scuppers the deal.

Shato is even worse than G.Ballbag. He's been running the reus story since summer to gain some mileage, and will continue to do so till marco eventually moves to his actual destination, then he's most likely to activate the second part of his forecast.

Cerezo categorically denied and ridiculed the rumour already in the summer. It could be that Atlético's acting as per player interest, offering him favorable terms wrt any future transaction. But it seems far-fetched.

If Barca don't get him which they won't now I hope it is Athletico, they are a huge club who have enormous potential to become a third superpower in Spain at least in the short term. With Reus onboard and perhaps another top striker then they would be as good as anybody whic is good for Spanish football.

People shouldn't disrespect them as a top club who can lure big names but I don't think the Reus-Atleti rumor is credible. He'd have to have some sort of underdog fetish to move from Dortmund to Atleti and ignore the thirst for glory/money that most players associate with Europe's clubs of highest prestige or reputation, because there's no other real connection he has to Atletico.

They've got a pretty great team already as it is. Reus would take them on another level entirely but I believe they can make do without him. Their priority should be fullbacks and grooming Correa/Griezmann. If they actually have approached Reus and he's expressed interest, then it'd be well worth the pursuit but again it's hard to believe that as a credible rumor.

Whaaaat. They already have that in Koke.[/quote]

Regardless of what fanboys say, koke is nowhere near xavi level of dictating games. Atletico thrive as underdogs and struggle when playing as favorites cause Simeone grooms them on the underdog mentality. Koe would struggle without space. Seems ppl have already forgotten how freaking brilliant xavi was

Dunno why he'd be compared to Xavi.

Koke doesn't have to be at the level of a prime Xavi (GOAT midfielder) to be a world class playmaker. He does embody the same philosophy of pass and move but he simply can't play the refined level of technical football at an intense, vertical team like Atletico that Xavi did at Barca. He does dictate games for Atletico on a regular basis but since they don't harbor the same control of a game the way Barca did, he can't be performing the true Xavi role. He has the ability to control games but he can't change the way his team plays (even prime Xavi couldn't be so influential as to single-handedly turn Atletico into a tiki-taka team). To shine in games against the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelsea, etc. and more or less secure a starting position at the NT at the age of 22 is no mean feat and shows that he is a special talent.

He has plenty of time to evolve and showcase his talents over the course of his career but it's pretty telling that he's among the top 3 central midfielders in the world at this age. The other two I can think of are Modric and Cesc at Chelsea.
