Marco Reus

He'd do a fantastic job here, no doubt. He is world-class and proved it for years now although several injuries affected his performances in 2014.

He isn't able to bench Messi, Suarez or Neymar (although I believe that he could challenge Neymar for the spot) and that's where the problem is. If we hadn't bought Suarez or Neymar, Reus would have been the ideal signing.

I wanted him instead of Neymar back then. I thought Neymar was really overhyped and for a season, he looked to be. This season he is proving me wrong though.

I too think Reus would give Neymar a serious run for his money now.

Yup the rumor is Barto's election program is Reus, Danilo and Pogba.

Well, Barto has been a good boy and listened to two of my long-time demands. He should replace Reus with Marquinhos though.

The great hype came from a couple of seasons ago where Barca was starving for attacking production not coming from Messi. Back then without Neymar and with a misfiring Alexis, Barca only had a 'shadow of his former self' Villa and 'starting to underperform' Pedro. Reus meanwhile, was tearing it at Dortmund. People rightfully got hype over him.

Hype has died down as the need for him died down as well. He still the same great player though.

I am referring to numerous fans on local forums seeing him as the successor of Iniesta (which is quite frankly nonsense) and as the savior of the club somehow forgetting that we are already blessed with an unbelievable trio upfront.

So it's from what angle that I consider the hype not warranted. Reus is a fantastic player. I never denied that. It's just that I don't see the need for him unless Pedro is going to be sold which I doubt as he is the type of player that a manager loves to have around.

As I wrote then the club should have other priorities. Such as finding a replacement for Alves, buying a young long-term central defender and bolstering the midfield.

Also nobody answered my questions in post 1460.

From the Blaugranas:

Neymar is miles ahead of Reus and always has been for me.

Just cant see where Reus would fit in other than as a back up. But then again he would be the best back up out there if he was happy with that.

We dont dont dont need him
Why are people so busy looking for vanity signings, to unsettle the team after it has finally found its balance?
A steal or not reus has no business being in barca plans,
We need a stable midfield and an alves replacement, the rest of it is unsettling the team leading to benching of world class players and who knows how much turmoil this is going to cause.
We have experienced enough drama already, let's buy the players that we need and keep doing what we are doing.

Apologies if i offended anyone

The PSG player I really want is Verratti. Marquinhos is not a bad option, but Verratti is a stud.

I agree about Reus not being a replacement for Iniesta. Waste of his skills playing so deep.

Are you referring to Blaugranas spanish forum wanting Reus for Iniesta? I've seen some people there suggest this, but I wouldn't pay much attention to this. It's not likely to happen.

Post 1460: Yeah he could very well stay. It's not certain Dortmund really has a buy-out for him, on top of the fact player has to be willing to leave as well.

Neymar is obviously the superior player. Not sure how anyone can question this.

Bartomeu can claim to have "bought" Reus all that he wants to when he is likely not going to be reelected, sorry elected for the first time.

Besides I rather invest in Depay for instance who is 5 years younger and who could be bought for a similar sum of money.

Reus is a 26 year old established player that would want to play every single week. In the current setup at the club we cannot guarantee him that unless we are going to disrupt the chemistry of the team.

Personally I don't agree. 2 years ago Neymar was just a hyped Brasileirao player while Reus was already a top player in Europe and tearing it at Dortmund. Even last season, where Neymar was struggling with his finishing and overall game, Reus was still running circles around RM in the UCL.

Now, Neymar has certainly skyrocketed this season while Reus has dropped a bit with injuries and Dortmund's general poor team play, so right now Neymar is younger and playing better, but I definitely don't agree with the "miles ahead" comment now nor certainly back then.

Two years ago Neymar was 21 years old and for me it was quite clear he was going to go on to be much the better player.

Maybe some seen Neymar as 'overhyped'. Not all of us did and some of rated him massively.

I thought he was a good player, but I also definitely thought he was vastly overhyped at the time. I wanted the established player then, rather than the younger unproven one whom I thought was overhyped.

Heck, I wanted Reus last season too if Suarez wasn't possible.
