The PSG player I really want is Verratti. Marquinhos is not a bad option, but Verratti is a stud.

I agree about Reus not being a replacement for Iniesta. Waste of his skills playing so deep.

Are you referring to Blaugranas spanish forum wanting Reus for Iniesta? I've seen some people there suggest this, but I wouldn't pay much attention to this. It's not likely to happen.

Post 1460: Yeah he could very well stay. It's not certain Dortmund really has a buy-out for him, on top of the fact player has to be willing to leave as well.

Verratti is indeed a spectacular player. I prefer Pogba though who could really add a lot to the team. Such as a big physical strength, height, pace, a goalscoring threat. Aside from being a great box-to-box player.

Having said that and I have written this before too here, then I believe that Pogba is RM bound should he leave. RM have been interested in him for much longer than FCB. I thus presume that the contacts with him and Raiola are much more advanced. Not to say that there is the "Zizou factor". Zizou himself already took the journey from Torino to Madrid back in the day.

RM would likely be willing to offer a bigger transfer sum not to say a bigger wage. I am not sure if the club would be willing to invest his much in him. We will become wiser this summer. Juventus might even retain him for another season or two.

Verratti is a inferior and smaller version of Xavi IMO.

Not only Blaugranas but other Spanish fan forums. Catalan too. In the comment sections on articles from MD, Sport, Marca, AS etc. linking Reus with either FCB, RM or Bayern München etc. It's really unbearable on the long run. Now the same thing is happening here, lol.

I thought he was a good player, but I also definitely thought he was vastly overhyped at the time. I wanted the established player then, rather than the younger unproven one whom I thought was overhyped.

Heck, I wanted Reus last season too if Suarez wasn't possible.

Reus is a great player no doubt but Neymar is potential balond'or winner.

There is no chance that Reus would come and win place in team over Neymar.

I'm sure Rues can play the Iniesta role in this current Barca set up though.

Not for me.

Iniesta is playing on the left of a midfield three where his main job is to hold position to cover others and to keep possession ticking over.

Cant see Reus coming to do that.

Oh I'm not so sure. I think Reus has the experience to make up with efficiency, what Neymar might have over him in pure talent. I think he can very much give him a run for his money.

But this is all hypothetical and I definitely would not tinker with the front 3 right now while they're playing so well.

Though like I said, would not mind Reus for €25M if it doesn't affect other more needed transfers.

Iniesta isnt playing as an AM right now, he's a CM and Reus is not a CM, Gundogan, Veratti, Koke, Samper. Those are the players that can fulfill that role.

Eh? One of the main reasons why Iniesta doesn't shine individually is because he has to take more responsibility as a CM "in the current setup". In the previous 2 seasons the central midfield was occupied by Xavi AND Fabregas which allowed Iniesta to play further upfront in sort of a free role on the left, rotating with Cesc. Messi was also playing exclusively as a false 9. Lots of linkup options for Iniesta. Under Tito in particular that allowed for Iniesta to have his best ever season in terms of statistical output. Under Lucho we're back to 4-3-3 and with 3 forwards and Xavi half-retired he is blatantly playing a more reserved role and has more defensive responsibilities. Someone has to stay back when Alba makes those darting runs for Messi diagonals. Iniesta doesn't dribble much on the left wing anymore and with Messi playing on the right the linkups, one-twos and cute combinations around the edge of the box are also limited. So if an out-and-out (attacking) midfielder shines less because he plays a more reserved role let's "imagine" (that was the word, right?) how an actual forward like Reus would do in midfield.

The comparisons with Di Maria are pointless. Reus is not Di Maria, Reus is a goalscorer, Di Maria is a creator, Barca doesn't play like Madrid etc.

What we need mostly is a RB and a CM..Id like Danillo and Koke.
Reus is one of my favorite players and he would love to play for us + he always performs great against RM.
Maybe he could fit in Iniesta role, or in a system like 4-2-3-1, but we cant be sure about that. Moreover Iniesta is just 30yo(soon 31) and Rafinha is coming. Buying Reus would be the end of Rafinha's chances to play for Barca. Still not sure about his case though, depends on the price too.
