Mario Gotze

Cheaper alternative to a position Zidane doesn't utilize.

AFAIK you guys like to play direct, fast goal scoring wingers. You can't apply many of those virtues to the wing game Götze brings. And in midfield? Götze plays a old fashioned 10, which again doesn't feature in Zidane's tactics.

I don't buy it.

Zidane took over in mid-season with a squad that was inbalanced and inherited. Nobody knows how it'll be next season. If Pogba comes or James performs really well in mid-season,Zidane might change formations and the system to accomodate a N10. Gotze's prize is like 20 M pounds,it's definitely worth the risk if we sell some players who play in a similar position.

I don't think Goetze is trying to walk for free and seeking the signing bonus as some have suggested, I truly think he wants to stay and prove the doubters wrong. However, Bayern probably has no intentions to extend with him given his high salary and they probably rather sell him this summer to at least get some money.

Pretty much. Götze feels like he has to prove something, while Rummenigge lost all patience (it's Götzes 4th season now after all) and will want to sell him. Götze was comitting himself to Bayern in an FB message, after phoning with Ancelotti. But Rummenigge wants to cash in on him, so he goes public with it. Saying that a sale is not of the table and thus encouraging interested clubs to not stop bidding.

But I guess they won't offload him unless he agrees to leave? What if say Liverpool comes along and submits a bid that Bayern finds acceptable? They still have to respect the player's wishes, right?

Yeah, that's what I think this is about. So far Bayern wasn't going all out saying "please fuck off Götze", they know that this will cause controversy under their fans. It would be optimal for Rummenigge if Götze simply decides on hsi own that he wants to leave. I don't know what Ancelotti told Götze on the phone, but I could imagine that he was also trying to solve this a bit more gentleman-like, saiyng something like "You're not first choice, but of course I'd consider you if you decide to stay and you play good enough". Götze must have taken this a bit more positive than it was actually meant to be and then he published this FB message, so Rummenigge is slowly starting to get a bit less "subtile".

But this isn't proven, it's what I personally believe that is going on.

From what I was reading, KHR said something to the effect of "you know what Ancelotti said", suggesting that Ancelotti sent Goetze a clear message that he would not be counted on next season (probably means he will not be a regular starter). Also I am reading rumors that Bayern, Goetze and Liverpool were on the verge of agreeing to a deal to sell him to the latter for 25m and Goetze had a sudden change of heart and fired his agent and instead instilled his father as his new agent, and apparently Goetze's family (especially his father) opposes him from going abroad.

I think right now it is either Goetze getting the final cue and recognizing that Bayern is trying to push him out and does leave, or he still stays regardless of this very odd situation that he is in and tries to break out next season. I don't think it is even possible that Bayern will offer to renew him even at a much lower salary at this point.

Götze’s solo: How the Bayern-Star snubbed Rummenigge and Struth

Götze’s solo: How the Bayern-Star snubbed Rummenigge and Struth

At this time hardly anyone understands why Götze is fighting a move from Bayern. Both Bayern and his ex-agent Struth were anticipating a transfer, then Götze annoyed everyone with his change of heart. Even in Dortmund and in Liverpool, people are angry.
In just two hours, Götze turned into an enigma. First his agency, SportsTotal, and he announced a split, then he announced that he wanted to stay at Bayern, after all. Four days later one thing is clear: Götze isolated himself within hours.
Bayern-Boss Rummenigge was hit unexpectedly by Götze’s public announcement. The case turned into a top-level issue, even Sammer isn’t commenting.

Rummenigge is annoyed by Götze

Rummenigge didn’t even try to hide his resentment. Bayern is annoyed and just want Götze gone. The issue seemed solved after the call between Götze and new coach Ancelotti - until Götze offered his very own interpretation of it.
Juicy detail: according to „Kicker“ Götze only told Bayern’s director of PR Hörwick and not Rummingge that he declined both Liverpool’s and Dortmund’s offers and wanted to stay at Bayern.
Until then, neither Liverpool nor Dortmund were aware what was going on. Both clubs still had big hopes of signing Mario: For the first time, Dortmund had internally agreed on a Götze-transfer. Liverpool was ready to meet almost every demand Bayern was going to make.

Nobody understands Götze

That Götze smashed the connections to both clubs annoys Bayern. Now it becomes increasingly difficult to sell him before the transfer-window closes. Götze’s ex-agent Struth knew of this a bit longer. It’s rumoured that he cut the cords with Götze because Mario refused to transfer. Also he would have made a good amount of money on the deal, and his own relationship to Bayern is rather shaky. Both are good reasons why he wanted a deal, but now things are much more complicated.
Bayern deosn’t want him anymore For Götze, there are many athletic (?) reasons that speak in favor of a change of scenery. All involved parties don’t understand what’s going on with Mario and why he want’s to stay at the club that doesn’t want him anymore. In the end, even Struth wasn’t able to reason with Götze. Apparently Götze is of the opinion that he listened to the wrong people. That might be the reason his own dad is now representing him. With new found confidence and new support back to succes, from Götze’s point of view it might already be too late

I hope no..... Hate his guts for backstabbing Dortmund like that and on a personal level for ruining GOAT's chance to righteously conquer the title that he so deserves
