Montoya can't be shipped for € 15 million. His contract expires in 6 months. Even if it didn't he wouldn't be worth more than Jordi Alba who was a regular Valencia and Spanish national team player at the time Barca bought him.

If he leaves he will regret it. Napoli, Liverpool etc. aren't clubs or cities where he will be happy for long just because he'll get more playing time short term. He can work hard and be patient and eventually take over from Alves in 1 or 2 seasons. But he demands it now immediately despite the fact that he's breaking up simple attacks with poor touches and hesitation in the final third and gets beaten by Granada wingers multiple times. Too many La Masia players buying into their own hype recently since the Xavi, Messi, Iniesta generation.

I agree the only newcomer who actually had a right to demand his spot was Thiago so in my book he was right to leave since Tata seems to be following Tito's footsteps. Montoya is not good enough to demand time as of right now Sergi Roberto/Batra should be the only ones complaining.

This. I think the lack of playing time he got last season is a major reason for his form dropping. Plus, if he wants to leave, that's not helping either.

Maybe there is some truth to those rumors about him not working hard behind the scenes. He can't just expect to be entitled to the starting rb spot.

People seem to forget that sometimes it's OK to give your homegrown players a shot or an advantage, even though they might not be the best choice at the moment. You don't become such an academy-based club like Barcelona by always playing your best or most expensive/famous players.
