Martin Montoya

He's making lots of fine runs, which this team needs. So, they are passing him the ball.

That is the problem. In the offensive zone, he is just terrible with the ball. Worst on the team by far.

It's a shame that his final ball is letting him down at the moment. I think his crossing in general is quite good but when he is presented with a clear opportunity to give a final ball and knows that he has this opportunity then he leaves a lot to be desired. Hopefully it's something he improves on with experience. Other than that I still think he has the potential to be one of the best right backs in the world.

i think he doubts his ability in the final third he makes the wrong decisions in the final third ttys to pass rather than shoot, but that can be said about the wingers as well at times

MD reporting that Montoya is close to renewing his contract with Barcelona to 2018. Only minor details left. Could sign before Man City tie.

How come Montoya is playing tonight? Is Alves injured or suspended or something, what am I missing?

Probably rotation, or maybe Tata didn't like his last performances. Hopefully the latter.

Don't think it's to rotate as this is a game of utmost importance. Either he didn't like Alves' recent performances or he's taking a rather defensive approach. Either way, now we seem to know the reason why he didn't call Montoya up against Sociedad.

Well... Montoya is no fortress in defense. The Alves - Montoya debate has no winner, imo.

Motoya is extremely lucky to not to concede a goal after he was easily warded off by the Seville striker.
Kid has good speed and is aggressive but misses the final/key pass very often. He should work on his decisiveness in the final third.

He didn't miss any final pass against Sevilla. Had some good passes in behind their left back to find Alexis and one pass that could have resulted in a goal but Alexis missed the ball.

Certainly not an outstanding match but he was ok, though people who don't like him will jump at the opportunity to criticise him after that particular incident where he was clearly fouled.
