Me too. He makes errors in defense, but hey, at least he's in defense.

And as for his attacking, I don't see how Alves is any more useful than him, I honestly don't.

Alves has the experience, confidence and maturity that Montoya still doesn't, and you can see it in his game in general, but nowadays he doesn't do any of his tasks any better than Montoya does.

Even directly competing with a clearly declined Alves, he simply cannot set himself apart. This season, statistically he is no better defensively than Alves, yet Alves continues to be a clearly superior offensive option. At this point he is merely a backup fullback for a team that demands quality starters like Barcelona. Even as a backup, when compared to Adriano, he still cannot set himself apart.
