But on the other hand, beck then we had Xavi and Iniesta on their prime, plus Cesc's saga was alive every summer.
Plus, Modric was not ranked as highly as today.
It looked something like:
-- he will be a bench player behind Xavi and Iniesta
-- plus, we will rather buy Cesc because he will fit us better

So, yes, we didn't consider him that seriously back then.
He was always "just a 3rd or 4th option" for us.

Yeah it could be that they scouted him and saw him as a possible option, but Cesc was always the man they wanted, both Laporta and Rosell.

Kova has some nice passes, he almost assisted again. It is 3:2 currently.

But Inter's team is so chaotic, something like Barca B in some moments.
He would have 20 assists per Season with some better teammates in attack, like Messi or Ney (unlike Inter's poor attackers).

Icardi missed a lot easy chances, even today.
Barca's Cm could create a lot of assists to Neymar or Suarez also, for example (if we are not allowed to create to through balls for Messi)

Further, Kovacic is good in creating assists from counterattacks, like tonight, but he is also very good (better than Pogba in that segment, imo), when we play possession football and patient passing game around the box against parked buses, when we need a lot of movement, vision and shortpasses.
More or less, the same what Iniesta was always doing.

No Pogba please. They both play in the same position as Iniesta. Better get Youri Tielemans in 2016 as CM and sign Kova this summer and make him join in January.
