Mateu Alemany

They need to offload 200m to get back to 1 to1 and can 'spend' 40% of any sales/decreases in contracts I believe.

40% works only in case you can prove you will be able to pay the wage, and be under the cap in the next 2 years.
This is new change, and the reason why we can't register Gavi, we were 1 to 1 this season but not for the next.

I think this change essentially screwed the club, the plan was probably spend big last summer and then work again with the 25%. But La Liga changed the rules and it fucked us over.

Everybody knows that at Barcelona you have to see eye to eye with the board if you want to continue. It can be frustrating otherwise. But I think Laporta & Co. need to hire another sporting director to replace Alemany. Need to stay professional and have a cohesive structure worthy of an elite club.

I will say it again

Alemany IS NOT THE SPORTING DIRECTOR

Sporting directors: Txkiki, Zubizarreta, Fernandez, Abidal, Planas, Jordi Crujif.

Alemany is Football director, that was held for over 15 years by Raul Sanllehi, and when he left Bartomeu made different structure, Laporta brought Alemany to do the Raul Sanllehi job.

Essentially that is the business side of it, he is our negotiator and capologist who handles negotiation with agents, Liga etc. But not the man to make the squad planning.

Deco btw will be good choice as SD, but as I explained above he isn't a replacement for Alemany, you simply need a guy with business background IMO.
Going to Bartomeu structure, where football guts like Pep Segura do the business side, will be bad IMO.

Without a shadow of a doubt, la Liga say down and said to themselves, these guys figured out away to live within the rules we already established.

(Wether one agrees with what they did or not isn't relevant).

So they were like let's figure out how to make it even harder for these fc Barcelona going forward.

That was their sole rational when coming up with these rules.

Tebas said that for every sale/reduction they can spend 40%.

Would assume that impacts future seasons in same way as it does this so Gavi if on 8m a season for this and next two would need to have 20m reduced from salaries etc.

The reason they cant sign him just now is that room is not there for now or future seasons.

We had cap space to register Gavi this season in January, and was rejected because of 23/24 budget

Yes as would still be over budget in future seasons.

But say they sell Raphinha for 80m and came away with 'profit' of around 54m and then amortised costs savings of around 20m a seaosn for next two they can use 40% of that to register him.

Is my understanding.

Nepotism and politics ruining my club.

I have been patient and kind with Laporta.
But enough is enough
Laporta has been total shit in his return and all this instability is hurting the club BADLY. We need this club to be run professionally by professionals. Not by someone's agent, relative, friend ,Dad etc
Without professionalism and stability we will continue to flounder.

Good post.

I'm not totally sure about Deco tbh. Would prefer someone like Cordon who actually has experience working as a SD. Would also liked to get back Ramon Planes but he has just signed with Betis (don't think we would want him back anyway).

Fernando Carro, CEO of Leverkusen is rumored to be one of the possible candidates to replace Alemany. Don't know much about him but he seems to have a lot of experience in business so on paper could be a good choice. He was also born in Barcelona and is Barca socio.

He also said this last year about the levers the board pulled lol:

"Barcelona buys itself bread for today, but will starve tomorrow"

He's right.

Would be good if he'd come and bring some of that German discipline to the club. Not very likely though as Laporta still has final say in important decisions.

Yes, I just want someone who has actual experience in a good/big European club.

Great knowledge of Portugal and Brazilian (or South American in general) market where Porto is very active is positive too.

Excellent thread with info of the very reliable (with sources inside the club) Joan Fontes:

Google translation:
That Deco ends up arriving to replace Allemany would only confirm that Barça is a club of Amigos. Deco is close to Echevarría and his link with Mendes is direct. The technical secretariat is a farmhouse of friends. With an unequivocal interest: The movement of players and commissions
One of the reasons for Alemany's goodbye was his differences with Echevarría and supposedly some crossed accusations as a result of the signings of Ferran and Raphinha. If Barça were a serious club there would be no room for this type of speculation. But transparency is Narnia.

Xavi skipped the hierarchy
and went to Laporta and that displeased Allemany. Some of the open fronts between the two. Mateu wanted to remove Araújo and Dembélé from the team while Xavi counted on them for the dynamics of the first team. Allemany was at the feet of the horses when he declared that Ousmane would not play for Barça again. He sent Sergi Roberto an offer pointing out that no one was going to offer him more, in a somewhat hurtful way, a fact that annoyed Xavi and Rafa Yuste, who was very close to Roberto. For Pablo Torre, who shares a representative with Xavi, Alemany sought a loan to Cádiz while the player wanted to return to Racing. Xavi in a non-consensual press conference with Mateu, explained his position. Not the club. Mateu wanted to take Alba out of temper to Inter without consulting the player, a fact that upset Xavi. Alemany was also against Busi's continuity and was not very enthusiastic about the return of Leo Messi.
These are some of the reasons for the goodbye

We are officially a club de Amigos, after being for many years a team of Amigos
