Subotic had a better game overall yesterday.Hummels/Subotic are great but thrive in a team that play almost exclusively counter attacks which is far different from Barca's game.
Pique-Hummels may become the greatest but will be slow if put together.We need a new Puyol and not a new Pique.
In addition he would cost more than 35m€ which is absurd for a defender who's name isn't Pique,Ramos,T.Silva,or Kompany.

It's nice to see Hummels has fans and i specifically like the way you comment on my opinion about him fitting to Barca's game..
Problem is his price won't be close to 25m as Antimadridista1 suggested cause:
1)He signed an extension this summer.
2)Dortmund's champions league apperarences.
If Barca is to spent 40m on a defender and you believe he is a better option than the players i specifically mentioned then i also like to know more about the way you think...

I keep hearing about how he "wouldn't fit" but he would be a WAY better option that Mascherano or Song. Puyol can't play that many matches anymore and Bartra is still developing so it's way too risky to just hope he gets good enough.

Agreed although I still find Kompany overrated...I think Subotic might be the better defender, tactically, but his utter lack of pace makes Hummels look like Tello - so neither would be ideal paired with Piqué...What Bartra lacks in being a pure defender first & foremost, he makes up for with better pace than any central defender in the squad bar Puyol...Who at 34 really tells you something about the central defense

He was THE BOSS tonight vs. Man City! Perfectly timed tackles, unbeatable in the air, accurate passes, and some nice dribblings through the middle, although he couldnt convert any of those into chances.

The only thing he lacks to be a world class center back is pace, but he still has his best years ahead of him.

I can't imagine how he would communicate with puyol/pique/mascherano let alone the rest of the squad.

germans are not known for their "language-skills" and no one at barca speaks german. Hummels doesn't even speak english.

If Germans can't play in La Liga then how come Ozil and Khedira have been successful for Real Madrid? Have they learned Spanish or is it because Xabi Alonso, Ronaldo, and Mourinho speak english that helps them out? This is assuming that they speak English but I am pretty sure that most Germans speak english as it is taught in school.
