If Puig can't get a minute with the U21 then it is something glaring. Pass and move has been the modus operandi for the Spanish youth teams for the past 20 years.

Nah. The same as at Barcelona. Just because you have possession doesn't mean you have pass and move and fluid football. Basically like Pep's Barcelona vs EV Barcelona. Still Barca, but night & day in many areas.

I disagree here. Puig's style is pass and move, this is either followed-up on team level by everyone, or he becomes a problem (happened at Barca several times where he makes a move, teammates do not adjust, and he basically creates gaps the opponent then exploits). If you ask Puig to keep a position and don't give him the freedom to follow the ball and mix it up, you'd be better off not playing him at all.

I see what you want to but it's not like Puig only passes with bachata moves. Need to control what you do and follow team's flow. Didn't see much of U21 team, but they seem your typical spanish team. Possession based game, trying to create from open play. If Puig can't adapt to such team, he really has no business in this sport.

Can't believe I'm saying it, but you're underrating him here. He's a professional footballer, able to play in all phases of a game. When his 'pass and move' style is needed and when is not. Even though the latter might not be his strong suit.

But this is a development team still, and the level is different to Barcelona.

Watching the game it is clear that Puig can fit in the style. Perhaps for the coach the benefit of what he gives is not worth what he takes away over 90 minutes. It is what it is. There are more balanced options.

Spain are winning 2-0. There is a chance for Puig to get his 5 minutes. Infact he is warming up right now, he might get 10!
