He makes all standard side and back pass. No through ball or whatever like that. Just because he swings his legs quicker.

Pedri/De Jong plays under same coach and they don't run like a headless chicken.

Just not true. I think there was someone who posted stats about his progressive passing being very good. It's evident in the minutes he gets that he looks to play passes that make a difference.

I think his issues can be fixed well by a top manager. That's why I want Xavi. There's some interesting young midfielders at the club that would benefit from having the guidance of one the best CMs ever.

We'll see what happens. If Koeman stays, it's evident what Puig should do. Find a loan somewhere fast.

Koeman was one of the best DF in his time but look at his defense now... Xavi is the story for the future.

Progessive pass = a pass that more than 10m. Keep in mind that he barely plays so his per 90 stats are not really telling anything. At least in this game he doesn't make anything rather than some quick one-two.

Yes, he looks for the pass inbetween each time he gets the ball, it can be seen in the clip from todays game as well.
The movements and connections between the players in current Barcelona are very much unsynchronised and lacking, so it's tough for everyone.
I thought Puig tired or lost interest or something in the late stage today, I'm not going to praise him for this first entire half he played for three months, but he was decent enough.

Some stats:
Puig today: 27 passes (97%) 2 tackles
Pedri today: 24 passes (75%) 0 tackles, 1 dispossesed

I do think he tries progressive passes but it's often in areas where there's not much of an advantage in doing so. I don't think he suits barcas tiki taka style at all. Think he's more an Ajax 2018/19 player. Runs around like mad, wants to pass forward every opportunity.

Puig most likely plays in the way he does due to his strengths and limitations.

He needs to move a lot as cant compete physically in one on one situations so needs to try and cut off space or catch out opposition off the ball.

On the ball he doesnt seem to have any real range of passing so again moving a about a lot and moving ball quickly probably is what he has to do to have an impact.

Just dont think coaches come in and change players all round game as much is being made out and Puigs limitations are why he plays the way he does. Not sure how that fits into being CM for a team like Barca trying to provide control and consistency from middle of park.

I love the haters waiting for a 45 minute performance from Puig to shit all over him. He?s barely played. He wasn?t great but the whole team was garbage.

He?s one of our key pieces of the future. Get used to it.

Puig best opportunities is if you sacrifice a AML or AMR in a 433 and have him as a pseudo winger with the freedom to move interior and create. Or as the AMC in a 4231. Obviously he won't structually help much in defence, but he will work hard off the ball to close space in those positions- while not compromising tactically compared to being an aligned central midfielder.

Without Messi there will be opportunities for this role but he will have to prove that he can improve his assist making. Think Bernardo Silva at City.

I disagree. Puig plays like CMs usually do in La Masia. It's not much different. Pass and move, tiki-taka player, that needs a fluid system where several other players share the same type of movements.

We don't even know if he was instructed to do pressing since Messi doesn't do it, or not. If we have forwards that apply pressing like it's supposed to, then it's logical he won't run like a mad man to press.

The problem is that he is a high movement player in a very rigid and slow system filled with veterans. So, of course, he looks out of synch.

I think he's perfect in the left interior role he had today, should be better with 3 in front rather than 2, even though it didn't show today.
Busquets and Alba in behind, maybe Pedri in the AML and Messi as a F9. Puig would thrive then!
But everything depends on different team mentality on the whole of course.
