Redemption arc initiated. Going to return to Barca post Xavi, as a 6ft tall complete midfielder that only the MLS could develop.

Riqui Puig: the sad goodbye of the eternal promise
https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/opinion/riqui-puig-triste-adios-eterna-14218505

Ending up playing in MLS at just 22 years old can be considered a failure. Especially considering the expectations generated by his talent. The story of Riqui Puig is the story of a footballer who could have marked an era and who has ended up becoming an eternal promise. Forced to emigrate to a second-rate league because of his poor personal decisions. If none of the four coaches he has had at Bar?a (Valverde, Quique Seti?n, Koeman and Xavi) have trusted him, it will be for a reason. And that something is nothing more than his lack of professionalism and his lack of commitment. He has preferred to be an Instagram idol before being a star in the field. The night, like many others, he has confused him. And the bad companies (inside and outside the locker room) have ended up taking their toll.

Now he leaves the club through the back door, without even leaving a transfer euro. He leaves for free because it's the only way he leaves. No team is willing to pay for a player who aimed very high but ended up falling very low. The Blaugrana newspaper library is full of cases similar to that of Riqui Puig. Footballers who emerged from La Masia, who make an impact with their class in the lower categories, but who are diluted when they reach the first team. Some for asking for more money than they deserve (like Ilaix Moriba) and others for believing more than they are. The fault, obviously, is not his alone. But of the environment of him. And of that cohort of flatterers who praised him prematurely and who, subsequently, turned him into a throwing weapon against the technician on duty.

Riqui Puig is going to the Los Angeles Galaxy and Xavi has one less problem in the locker room. But he still left him discarded who refuse to leave. The most scandalous cases, without a doubt, are those of Umtiti and Braithwaite. Since last May they know that they do not count for the coach. The coach made things very clear to them and they didn't even go on tour. Mingueza, Riqui and Neto (in the next few hours) have understood their situation and are looking for a future away from the Camp Nou. But Umtiti and Braithwaite have castled. They resist leaving. And they reject all the alternatives that are proposed to them. That is why the Blaugrana club has made a radical decision: it is planned to give them the letter of freedom if they are still in the squad on August 31. A punishment that would not serve to save his chips but that, at least, would show a strong hand in the face of such shameful attitudes.

?Even Guardiola did not want him(Ferran Torres). He played 12 matches last year.?

Imagine making fun of a player because he played 12 times, when that is more than you played in your whole career. No wonder all the youngsters at the club hate him, the only guy who tolerates him is Pique, and he is not much liked by players in his age group either.

Fun fact, in his 1,5 seasons there Ferran Torres played roughly 700 minutes more for City than Puig played for Barcas 1st team since his debut in 2019 (2560 vs 1867)

Not that it's difficult to find younger players that already have way better careers than Riqui will ever have of course, Gavi did it before even turning 18 for example :coffee:

If true this is huge. Riqui Leaks confirmed. What a snake.

If you scroll down apparently he had offers from Chelsea and Milan. He says they would pay you double but you would be by yourself. lol what a mentality.

He knows he belongs at Barca, surely he had no idea the great Xavi would shun him.

Everyone has shun him. Koeman, Xavi, other major clubs, mid-table clubs.

He's just shit.

Puig is no different from the La Masia players that were hyped up at a younger age but fizzled out and never took that next step to be long-term first-team material.

Not like he's some poor kid either, he's from a Rich family who has connections with the club and if he retired here and today he'll be fine long-term. There were so many rumors that he's basically not very liked within the first team and even the younger guys couldn't stand him because he was apparently pretty arrogant behind the scenes.

I'm sure if he knew a year ago he would've taken Chelsea's offer then. Not surprised Chelsea's new owners being American aren't the smartest recruiters now.

Iniesta showed endless masterclasses in Japan so Puig can do same in the states with more fans watching.
