Memphis Depay

It looked like glorified friendly for Belgium and they were barely jogging. Don't take too many conclusions from these games.

But yes his stats are amazing for Netherlands but again keep in mind that European qualifiers are pretty weak level. He looks Godlike in qualifiers but nothing special even in LaLiga.

There is a still a strong rivalry going om between NL and Belgium, albeit healthy one. Netherlands didnt manage to beat Belgium since 98.
But mostly agree these are still glorified friendlies. Van Dijk got sent away to go on holidays and wont be in remainder of games.

Yeah that's why Netherlands had motivation but Belgium looked very poor and the tempo of the game was slow.(from Belgium especially). Very weak match quality wise.

But think Belgium looked poor because a lot of players are passed their prime. Especially defense. Only ones class are courtois and de bruyne.

Sure also believe they werent as motivated but NL was playing away and belgium at home.

Well some players literally said that they didn?t want to play these games and that they are meaningless so I?d imagine the motivation was far gone.
We have a like 14 really good players but after that it?s trash like Vanaken, Boyata and Mignolet. If you replace those by Tielemans, Denayer and Courtois this team is 5 times better.
Then you have also Carrasco, Thorgan Hazard, Saelemaekers,? who would be better than what?s playing now.
Lukaku is always great for the national team and simply irreplaceable so him getting injured didn?t help either.

Not wanting to take away from Holland being superior yesterday (LvG also had a big part in it imo) but if this was even a euro qualifier, things would?ve been different imo.

Anyway, Memphis was really good but this is as good as he gets. If he was just a bit better (an 8 instead of a 7 to over simplify things a bit) he could be a useful player for a top team I think.

Seems he may renew until 2025, thought the club would try to flip him.

With a fit fati, Lewa, raphinha, and xavi's favorite,he will struggle to get into the game time, may cause issue in the dressing room, should probably sell if an offer comes in.

If Xavi plays same set up as last season there is not a role for Depay.

Can only think there has not been offers for him or he wont move and they think better than let leave for free in year to renew now and have a look at it again when a good WC gather more interest and better clubs he would be willing to join.

Don't think we're getting Raphinha cause of costs, and Fati is hardly fit. So we still need Depay

there were rumors that we wouldn't stand in his way if he wanted to move on a free somewhere else. but don't think the big clubs are interested and barcelona life probably appeals to him.

he may stay for another year to gain more suitors, if he has a good WC.

lol he won't cause issue in dressing room. He will get along fine with everyone and probably become good friends with Ansu.
Memphis is pretty humble.

I'm guessing he will start the season well and motivated if he stays, then gradually drop off if he doesn't figure into Xavi's first team plans.

Alot of games, a winter World Cup and who knows how everyone comes out of that one and what injuries. Good idea to renew for one season more and keep for now.

Though I reckon clubs like Atletico, Juventus, Napoli would be interested.

Would be smart to renew him for a couple of years and hope he has a good World Cup. Should be able to get 30-35m for him then. A Yerry Mina if you will.
