They would, he has done that turn many times and it always works. Its about timing and he knows when to execute it. A good signing for any top team actually, and great upgrade to Werner for Chelsea if they go for him.

I think though that he too mitigated his own risk considering he was a Koeman bet with the 2 year contract length. Club is in their right to ask what they deem his value, and Depay is in his right to want to stay for his final year.

But yeah, whatever transfer fee we can get is a bonus, just as it is to keep Depay for a year as a squad option. Our left side of attack is frail.
