Overarted?Probably no,he had a good game IMHO,may be it was not his best game but comparing him to Cesc is unfair because Cesc is a far better player,he is the captain of Arsenal and have the potentail to become the best midfielder on earth but still I consider him as a superb talent,Welcome to Barca Mesut.

I'm sure El Tren would concur but I've watched Mesut a lot this season, the hype is real & it's legit...The kid is no 3 match WC wonder

He is a strong and promising player - just note that he had 30 assists in this years club season. But like lenuam also said he is still inconsistant - he had 2-3 weak months at the start of this year. And while his performances were good in this WC, i feel he is overall a bit overhyped. I felt like Müller and Schweinsteiger, perhaps also Friedrich were generally better and more key to germanys succes in this WC. But have in mind that Özil is only 22 so far.

unnecessary comparison. and by doing that, look, now people will think ozil had a bad match while in fact he had an OK match.

But Spain played brilliantly in the midfield and Ozil couldn't do much about that, kinda ghost of himself comparing to his prev. matches. Though he was one of few positive germans yesterday. Ozil all the way to Barca!

I think it's a very simplistic conclusion to make based on the match, tbh...Watching Özil run at Spain over & over and I rarely saw him even show a sign of hesitation...Nevermind the fact that he wouldn't stumble over or give the ball away
