Dunno if its worth comparing players of different teams by their teams performance. I dont wanna know how many goals Messi would have scored if he would be playing in our NT this tournament ... or the spanish ...
At the same time, would Ozil have been as effective for Germany if he had been marked as tightly as Messi? Nobody in this tournament were marked as tightly.
Ozil came into this tournament without any weight on his shoulders and has just suprised a few like Muller has really. If either player are snapped up by big clubs in the summer, they may not succeed and thrive in the same way.
You also have a point about Messi being in the Spanish side too. I think a Spanish midfield is just what he was missing today and Spain would have been a much better team with Messi in it. He would have probably been eligable to play for Spain once upon a time aswell wouldn't he?
Back to Ozil, I'm glad he's having a good world cup, same with alot of the Germany players. Their movement and disciplined has been excellent and they are a joy to watch when counter attacking. I hope for the sake of Ozil's career that he stays at Werder next season. Big clubs always come in for players who have a good world cup and it doesn't always work out as planned. So I think he should atleast stay at Werder for another season if he is planning a move away from there.
