Yet another player we won't be able to get rid of in a couple of years.

Shambolic management. Have no words to describe the state our club is in right now.

People are too obsessed with age on our forum.

Let's say it this way:
If you buy a player (Dembele, Arthur) and you need to wait for 4 year until they develop, that's not a good deal for Barca.
We are wasting time, money, trophies.

Ok, if a player is young, you surely have to give him some time and some credit.
But there needs to be a line.

For example, Arthur will be 24 in a Month.
If someone could travel through time and tell us: he will be meh until the age 27, then he will improve at the age of 27.
Would you keep him?
Look, he would improve in that case, but we would need to wait for 5 years.
That's just not a good scenario for Barca.

New signings need to perform from a season 1 or a season 2.
That's it.
We are not a smaller club who can buy a player and wait 3-4-5 years until he develops.

But buying 30 year olds while already having one of the oldest squads imaginable isn't any better, unless they are cheap options or really improve the squad. Pjanic in my opinion is neither of those.

Players should normally contribute from the start AND over the course of multiple seasons (i'd say at least the length of their initial contract), everything else will seriously mess up the squad.

The team is already way too old and expensive, so the only way to balance out new expensive old signings is probably playing guys like Puig but idk if you'll like that one

Maybe thats barto's strategy. Leave the ckub destroyed. Next president will need a lot of time to rebuild, get rid of overpaid older players and starting a post messi sporting project.
After a few bad years one of his guys of the rosell/barto group will run again with make barca great again type statements to get back to power so they can further enrich themselves.
Clueless socios would easily fall for it.

Fascinating logic. Might aswell buy only 30 year old players since 'experience' trumps everything else.

Age doesn't matter if it's 30 plus year old veterans like what AC milan had in the 2000s.

Our veterans and the veterans we seem to be buying don't have such incredible engines (i.e. Maldini, Nesta, Cafu, Seedorf etc.)

Well if age doesn't matter BBZ8800 would have no problem with Barcelona signing a 29 year old Neymar next year. After all, experience trumps everything and he'll perform from day one.

Neymar is too skinny, also, not tall enough.

Imagine 2-4 years from now when 80% of our players declare they will end their career..

That is Bartos master plan. The club will be broke because of him, and then when all the seniors retire, the only option Barca will have is La Masia.

Ideally Puiq replaces Arthur and Pjanic replaces Rakitic

Today's version of Pjanic is far from the level of Raki when he was bought from Sevilla. Puig on the other hand still has a loooong way to go. Sorry but I can't see any reason to be optimistic obout this Pjanic - Arthur deal.

If it's true that we only did this transfer to balance the books. Is it possible that we can sell this guy straight away. I know psg were interested in him

Miralem Pjanić is considered as a fundamental piece by the club to contribute to the transition of the team in its generational change, acting as a leader and mentor for young players thanks to his experience. [md]

I am thinking the same.
