Nelson Semedo

Don't see him ever becoming quality starter for us but it is his first season so I may be proven wrong.

The talent is there. Even glimpse of his attacking potential.

Even Abidal struggled in his first season and admitted to even thinking about leaving, said it's always hard to adapt first season, but after that he took off. I believe Semedo will do the same.

His positional play is not the best, but he cuts out his mistakes with incredible pace. Most wingers get surprised by that.

Why he is struggling offensively is a mystery for me. He has the skills, but looks isolated.

Lack of game time is an easy answer to that.

I personally am quite happy with him. He is a proper RB and quite reliable defensively. He has shown attacking talent this season before so its not like he can't attack. Come consistent game time and he will be killing it.

There are very few young players in the world who show as much talent at Semedo does. The guy has all the right attributes to become an absolute monster of a RB.

Still needs some refining and sharpening but early on he has shown so much promise.

On the topic of Roberto, personally I think his future with us is a starter in midfield.

Not even on the bench? Good thing Roberto wasn't butchered by those cretins, otherwise we could have had a problem. Vidal almost got fucked up by one asspanyol bitch.

if Roberto could improve his positional discipline I'd like to see him take rakitic role in midfield and give semedo a run of games at right back, surely semedo wasn't bought to be a backup player

Seems to me that we are taking the slow approach with getting Semedo integrated to the squad. Valverde and co. are not dumb, and saw the same quality we all did when he first got here. The thing is, there is more to football then just skill on the field. Sometimes, it can mean off field issues (as we saw with Neymar) acclimating to new country, new people so if that is rough the whole thing suffers. I'm sure he just wants him to succeed long term and Valverde probably saw something troubling that maybe he wants to nip in the bud before it became a real problem. His talent is undeniable.

He's playing solid amount of minutes for a new signing and a player that still isn't better than our first choice RB.

It's not as if he's impressive RB being held back by some scrub.
