It's why I liked the idea of us going for him over the likes of Cancelo and Bellerin. He's not quite there yet, but don't know why but he's such an exciting player to watch. Hope he really makes it.
Cancelo has some pace and technical skills but struggled with inconsistency and generally was very weak defensively while at Valencia. Bellerin has pace but IMO lacks the Technical ability to play for a team like ours.
Semedo really exploded at Benfica last season and was exciting, he showed pace and great technical ability and while defending wasn't always his strong suit he wasn't to bad at it either. Seemed the most logical option out of all the RB players we have been linked with.
You can tell these days how hard he's trying to be more risky. One of the main criticisms by a number of posters on here is that how reserved he was going forward and was more of a defending RB. Which was odd since Defending wasn't his strongest suit.
It seems like he realized that he needs to be risky going forward like he use to at Benfica than just be conservative. Which is good news since the Right side has the weakest area not just defending but in attacking as well since Messi stopped playing on the RW and Dembele got that bad injury early on in the season.
Sembele is here to stay.
