Nelson Semedo

Strangely around this time last year I started to have my doubts about another Portuguese "wonderkid" called Andre Gomes, now Semedo's turn. I had hopes he'll up his level, but apparently this is not happening.

You still don't doubt Valverde so i wouldn't too much faith in your doubting capability

Perhaps you don't realize that Valverde is going to manage Barcelona next season. I don't care you doubt him, that's your problem, not mine. We still 90% get the La Liga & Copa double. Probably you are hoping Barca to fail for the rest of the season just to get EV sacked. Pathetic shit and you call yourself a Cule...

Valverde has just done an Emery in CL. Fucking Emery. And even worse, because at least P$G scored at Camp Nou and tried to kill the tie. He has done it against ROMA. ROMA!!!!! PSG hasn't learned last year, we havent learned this year it seems. You need a coach with balls for the CL, regardless if you buy God himself to play for you. Good luck with filling the Nou Camp Nou with 105.000 people and Mourino performances in the league.

Sadly i do because our board is pathetic.

I don't need lessons in being a cule from a holier than thou prick like you. Probably you are waiting for Valverde to pull an Emery 2.0 next year and embarrass us again in the CL.

That marking for the last goal.

Very difficult to defend since this was very probably a practiced corner-"trick" by Roma. Manolas knew exactly where the ball was going to and it came perfect. As defender you are just the second one in these situations.

The first goal is far more questionable in terms of marking and letting the striker know that you are there. Pathetic stuff from Alba and especially from Umtiti who made it possible that Dzeko could trap the ball with ease.

I'm being positive, you on the other hand absolutely do not acknowledge what had been achieved this season until this point. One game it takes for bitches like you to start crying over how miserable life is without the sacred Treble!!!

THIS

real madrid recent years just kill the tie away by scoring goals

while barcelona in the lat 10 years at least never seen our team beat a big club away accept for real madrid & man city if we call man city a big club at that time

There's being positive and then there's being clueless. The whole season our play has been pathetic with Messi's brilliance papering over the cracks. I have been warning all season that our luck will run out soon and we were due a spanking. All season you Valverde apologists have been crying "but....but....results...unbeaten...". Now that Valverde doesn't have the results what is your excuse?

Nobody expects a treble every season. If we went out with a fight staying true to our principles, I'd have been okay with it. But the way in which we went out against freaking Roma playing cowardly Mourinho football (which we have been playing all season) is unacceptable for cules who love this club for more than its results.

Anyone think Semedo could make an interesting CB? Similar to adapting Abidal.

No.

His defending doesnt look anywhere near good enough when asked to mark anyone.

He started three times in a row and in every one teams could have scored headers against him.

Biggest strength is he is an athlete.

I am not convinced by him but hopefully can improve yet.

For me his biggest problem is that his output drops dramatically after the 60-70 minute mark.

At that point he almost exclusively delays passes, slows down at cutting back and never takes on his man. Perhaps it is a dietary issue or energy management during sprints In the first phase of the match. But this would also explain the mental tiredness late in games too with marking and movement.

But he has all the right tools, just needs minutes and patience to be our starting RB.

Lastly for CB, Abidal was also a bit of a disaster in his early days just after the Lyon move. Clumsy in defence and not good on the ball, nor industrious enough as an attacking option. Our system and his hardwork coupled with his natural assets made him world class for a period. So if we bank on the process I think Semedo has the attributes to adapt to the role, where also, his energy management would be better if he has continued long term issues at fullback.

Abidal I am fairly sure always said CB was his best position and Semedo has come from midfield originaly I think.

Semedo doesn look at all like he could play at CB to me.
