Nelson Semedo

I agree. Though Imo the goal wasn't even his fault. Braithwwaite switched off and didn't track the run. Semedo was decent enough, way more of an outlet than Alba for example, who didn't even have a winger to worry about.

Agree that the first goal was more BW missing his assignment than Pique's attempted shot block.

Do some of you realize that he was playing against three players? VJ's speed alone is exhausting. He was our best player tonight!

Look at the goal and see what Carvajal was doing in the box. That is why you never want to play without doubling your wide players (fullback + wingers), of course, if you want to be the active team.

Because they didn't have any winger on the other side. Semedo played relatively well. At least better than most of our other players.

Marcelo didn't attack that much, Semedo wasn't asked to even attack. And yet he was no where to be seen multiple times on the defensive end.
He always has the tendency to move inside with zero awareness of opponent position. That has been the case for so long man.

Yeah, but he didn't have a lot of help tonight. At times he had Marcelo and Vinicius both coming at him where he had to make a decision to either cover the man running behind or the ball carrier.

I don't blame him for those plays, but for leaving so much space when only Vini was there which happened so often. If Vinicious was even capable of making a right play the score would have been much worse.

The almighty Sergi Roberto can handle 3v1 situations and he would have certainly stopped Vinicius.

Even though the guy had a lot more protection than Semedo did when he went up against the kid the one game he played against him.

You do realize you are the only one to bring Roberto to the discussion?
Good way to deflect the argument

Do yourself a favor and read the first three posts in the last page.

It screamed trying to bring him into the conversation. Not even surprised you do a great job trying to big up certain players and also make it sound like Valverde was the victim in some cases.

Vini would have destroyed Roberto today. Vini didn't even try at the end to dribble past Semedo. Semedk was good

Do yourself a favour and stop deflecting, non of those posts was about Roberto.
We all know Roberto wasn't even an option today due to injury, non needed to compare.
You bring Roberto and now try to bring EV to the discussion, world class deflecting :worthy:
This is about a limitation of a player that people still think is worthy of starting spot and massively overrate him. A player we will hopefully understand the need to replace him.

Ironic coming from you who said "Roma was one of the best teams out there" when trying to excuse Valverde.

We watch two different games, it seems. Semedo was constantly getting 3v1, and in the past you constantly find shit to make it look like he was worse than he really was. You use to constantly bring Roberto in the conversation and get all upset when someone confronts you and you pull the fucking "World Class deflection" Bullshit.

I brought in Roberto because I knew very well someone was going to anyway. just like the other usual Valverde cultists on here do.

This guy is why we didn't lost worse. Our defensive coverage on Vinicius was basically Semedo holding on for dear life alone.
