Neymar Jr. - v5

For what it is worth; Dybala isn't scoring 20 goals a season in Serie A either despite being Juve's main man.

Stats don't mean shit I know, but somehow Neymar's poor stats do while Dybala's doesn't.

As I pointed out too, they do not even play the same positions. If you want Dybala then either Suarez goes out or Messi sticks to the RW so Dybala can play behind the CF in a free role.

Worth it? I'm not so sure.

I'd take Dybala over Suarez, sure. Dybala is much younger and could reach the level of Suarez one day in the right environment, and Suarez is already on decline.

Dybala at Barcelona would be back to square one in football. He'd be helpless on the wing, he is nowhere near Neymar in terms of speed, accelaration or technique. He's unique with his clinical long and mid-range shots, but against "park the bus" tactics that's not going to be an easy task. Besides everyone will start blaming him for being selfish. The Cristiano Ronaldo scenario. Dybala is great with feet, but surrounded by three men in the box his chances are close to zero. Messi is the only man in football who can dribble in a 2x2m area against 3-4 defenders and still manage to shoot or go past them (and yet he loses the ball in 30-40% of the situations). Remember his goal against Bilbao, well if you can't, memories are still fresh how he passed by Modric, then blanked Carvajal's eyes with that feint for the first goal at BernaLEO.:worthy:

A good one.
So, when some stats suit you, then stats are good.
When stats don't suit you, then football is more than stats.

Some random stats for you:
1. Why our team played better this season without Neymar in the team?
2. What about a number of goals he scored this season? (He is a Lw and he is not supposed to score). How on Earth then he scored 39 and 31 goals in 2nd and 3rd season?
Or what, he played as a Cf back then?
Or, I know, we had a different coach back then?
Or, we had different midfielders 1 and 2 years ago?
3. Since Neymar came, we have the worst Cl period since 90's. Only one semifinal or higher in 4 years and two years in a row without semis.

Imagine a tragedy if we sell Neymar, we would lose all these valuable Cl quaterfinals, lel.

In the last 18 months, a guy played 2 months of good football.
He was a disaster in the 2nd half of the last season. A non factor in a Cl, and a ghost in La liga where Messi and Suarez saved our asses.

This season, he was a disaster all the time, except in 5 minutes of magic against Psg and in a few matches after that (remember BallonDOr posts again, ouch).
But he soon returned to a good old poor to average Neymar.

If he were a 30m player, people would still be pissed at him.
But he is among top3 or top5 most expensive players in the world. And yet again, in 4 years here, we got 0+6+6+2 months of good form.

Yet we invested and paid 250-300 millions for him.
A deal of the century...

We could have bought Verratti and Griezmann/Dybala together with all the money spent on Neymar, his dad, their dog, taxes, penalties, wages, raised wages.

I will reply your quote with my quote. . .

Oh look who is second only to Messi in La-Liga ratings this season

Damn every other player below him must be absolute garbage and out of form!

Agreed. Dybala also has Mandzu and Higuain to some extent to add various tactical options in attack. Here he would become one of the three similar players.
Don't know, I'd rather sign someone a bit more athletic like Dembele if we are signing a right-forward.

I still believe we don't need a radical change in front. At least not yet. Neymar this season had no replacement on the left wing (Arda Turan!? C'mon, man...) and so did Messi. All in all this season we were one forward short (the least) of having an useful squad rotation for 4-3-3 formation. Paco Alcacer was the sole man. This summer we expect the return of Munir and Deulofeu (probably) to the club, also I hope they promote Jordi Mboula to the first team. BUT they are all right wingers and have to choose one among these players. We have no one who can play effectively on left wing once Neymar is rested/suspended/injured.

I do want to see more of Denis on left wing. He was great playing there for Villarreal.

Look at Ney's best goalscoring season. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNStnJ0Cflg

Our playing style was totally different. We used him way more as a finisher than as creator. Nowadays he and Messi have to run the show because the midfield isn't creative. What is more, our pressing doesn't work (do we even have one?) so he has to run longer distances. He starts his dribblings deeper and when he runs forward without the ball, getting assisted by Leo or Suárez, he lacks the necessary freshness in front of the goal. He will never be a clinical finisher like Leo or Suárez, but his finishing is ok as long as he is relaxed.

He still has nearly one scoring point per game, which is ok. I know, he missed a lot chances this season, but he isn't the problem why we won't win a big title this season. Yes, he dribbles too much, but he is forced to do it as Lucho doesn't have a plan. Fix our midfield, become a TEAM again and we will be happy with Ney's performances.

He was superb against Osasuna last week on the left wing, but Lucho somehow pulled him back to Iniesta's role, instead giving Andre Gomes the LW position.:lucho2: CRAZY!

Totally agree. LW is where Denis has played best football of his career. Seems like another stubborn Lucho project to try and make him next Xavi or Iniesta and persued it long after obviously not working.
