What I was trying to and failed to covey was that 222M price is off of our evaluation of Neymar and not his merit as a player. But you're right, they'd not have got him for less; they just wouldn't have gotten him at all.

This keeps getting repeated but he was easily one of Barcas best players in second half of the season and second only to Messi.

I don't think you can speak of talent in a 25 year old anymore, he is an established player, he ain't gonna evolve much further, for now he sure is a top 5 in the world, he won't ever be no. 1 tho. IMO

I get why people hate him over his move, I do too and I wish him the worst fate possible in his footballing career but it is childish to deny that he is a great player, one of the best. .

Not at Barca. He's not going to go down as one of the Barca greats.

Even just Brazilians Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo and probably Romaria were better players for Barca.

Neymar was a good player more in the mould of an Henry or Villa than one of the best to pull on the shirt.

Is he one of the best in the world at the minute? Sure. Will he ever reach the level of the likes of Ronaldinho, Ronaldo or Rivaldo in their prime? Very doubtful. While people say he was our future, being Brazilian (and leading the lavish lifestyle) he'll be past his prime probably by late 20s.n Look at Ronaldinho. Best in the world in 2006.
