it must take some real effort to show that you are happy when you are simply not. You can tell from the presentation that he was not proud of the act. Lucky him he can wipe those tears with some 500 euro bills; he can afford that.

Can we for one second not just slay Neymar here, but generally talk about the fact how idiotic it is of the board to not adjust release clauses to inflation? How does it feel that all Barca players - including Messi, Suarez and Busquets - are now affordable? Should a european elite club really have such issues?
Just think about how easily avoidable this was.

our board are idiots i agree but the problem is the players probably have a huge input on their buyout clause. Neymar had interest last summer from PSG so he knowingly kept the release clause low in order for it to be possible for PSG to pull off.

i fear unless these mandatory clauses are scrapped we will see more and more players doing this as if shit hits the fan they know theres an escape. i don't think it will be Laliga only either, agents will see this as a great opportunity to bend clubs to their clients will.

Real Madrid has set release clauses for even their substitutes between 500m - 1bn. Barca has all their release clauses below 300m. If Neymar Sr asked for that clause it's because he knew Barca wouldn't give it much of a thought. Real Madrid elegantly evades that problem of mandatory release clauses by simply being adamant on fuck-you amounts, it's just Barca not getting that done because terrible managing.

i'm not sure how reliable those Madrid buyout clauses are but what can we do if our players request the lower buyout clauses? Messi renewed a while ago and iirc the clause stayed the same, most likely at his request.

after the Neymar shit though i agree we should increase them asap, we got caught lacking.

Cmon, at least a single player in Barca's squad should be loyal enough to see himself retiring there and not be adamant on an affordable release clause. Not a single 300m< at Barca vs almost not a single 500m> at Madrid. Can't tell me everyone at Barca wanted low clauses and every at Madrid gave no fuck.

I tell you how I think it was. Player agents are negotiating with clubs, and are figuring out a compromise. Something like "If you lower the release clause from 500m to 200m then my client is willing to take a 10k weekly wage cut". Here's the difference, Madrid says "oh well mister, why don't you fuck you instead" whereas Barca sees nothing but a oneway advantage to slightly lower the wage budget. They'd never expect their players to leave and "lmao who the fuck even pays 200m on a players anyway". They basically don't care if that release clause is just fucking high instead of extremely fucking high. That's complacency. Nothing but that.

Neymar left Barca to win Champions League and golden ball. it was not possible with Barca, let's be honest.

Neymar will have Rabiot and Verratti at PSG. one of the best midfielders in the world. with right investments in the next 1-2 years, PSG can win Champions League easily.

Next year, 34 years old Ronaldo will win Golden ball. Sad for Neymar. He won't it even if Barca wins Champions League, just because he will be in shadow of Messi.

Come on now

Barcelona evaded taxes, fought off clubs, hid funds, changed presidents and sat out two transfer windows in order to sign Neymar. They salted the earth for future Santos negotiations, purchased illicit favors for his father and broke international law just for Neymar.

In the Rosell/Bartomeu administration, the club built itself under Qatar Airways/Qatar Foundation, and the board's crown jewel was Neymar. Bartomeu and Rosell abandoned Unicef for crooked Qatari organizations, only for Qatari money to lure Neymar away to PSG 4 years later.

Neymar Sr came from a favela. Neymar's parents couldn't afford an ultrasound and often couldn't pay the electricity bill for the month. Neymar Sr worked three jobs simultaneously, and assured his son worked hard in football and never lost focus. Neymar Sr is seen as a villain and a criminal from Barcelona's lense, but from another perspective, he is the epitome of the American Dream. He worked hard to make sure his son didn't have the same childhood he had. He worked to make sure Neymar didn't have the career he had. Neymar was the next Robinho by 11, gaining YouTube attention from across the world. Time Magazine called him "The Next Péle" at 21. Of course Neymar and his father chose the money and the tax scandal-free lifestyle in Paris. That's a product of the environment. There's a million kids in Brazil who could one day become "the Next Péle." Neymar became that one in a million kid, and will reap rewards. Neymar must avoid falling into the same traps Ronaldinho, Adriano, Robinho & so many more before him fell into. Stay humble and self-aware.

Neither Neymar nor his father fell off the trail.

No, the one who forgot their morals and threw away the blueprint, is FC Barcelona.

For too long, has this Barcelona board ignored promising La Masia talent, chosen poor managers, and wasted money on lost causes. Barcelona broke the law for 4 seasons of Neymar gradually finding his feet in Europe. Now, he'll spend the prime of his career in PSG. The board's crown jewel has left for money, and an insurmountable gap has grown between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. Back to zero. Barça have 25 days to spend 220m, with other clubs guarding their stars and knowing they can overcharge Barcelona. PSG are smart. They know their intentions, they'd rather pay 70m in taxes--because it's the law--than include Marco Verratti in the deal.

Barcelona thought they could pillow-talk their way into signing Verratti.

Like an abrupt WWE plot twist, PSG flipped the script on them.

PSG triggered Neymar's clause, offered him a too-good-to-be-true salary, and sent Barça's summer into smithereens. Now, Barcelona are so focused on tattling on PSG and spending the Neymar money that they might ignore Valverde's transfer desires.

I ain't gonna lie, if someone quadrupled my salary I'd be off in a heart beat, even if it means doing engineering work on ventilation systems rather than Airbus aeroplanes
