Neymar Jr. - v5

Till now he play a worldclass season at Psg. But like many people here say the liga is very weak, look at players like Falcao or Balotelli. Suddenly they are starting scoring so many goals.
Neymar is now already 26years old. Ronaldo and Messi were destroying the best Ligue in the world at his age and were top scorer in the Champions League. I dont think he is able to reach their level, honestly I dont see anybody in the next years who will reach this level. The most players are too inconsistent. For example Hazard, plays one world class match, than 3 normal or bad matches. Ronaldo and Messi were playing world class in nearly every match of the season.

I agree. Falcao and Balotelli have never scored goals outside of France, while Neymar is approaching the end of his best years at the advanced age of 25.

I watched it.

I don't believe you. Otherwise you'd understand the importance of scoring and assisting the goals that secured his team 3 points on a match day that according to Verratti and Cavani, was one of the teams toughest.

What?
Wasn't Falcao a top scorer for Atletico madrid and Porto for several years before he went to ligue 1?

There was a time he was in the FIFA 11, along side Messi and Christiano

Same as Balotelli who at some point was firing it for Inter milan, City and AC Milan

That's his point. It was sarcasm.

While it's true that he scored a vital game winner and got an assist on top of that, I was not impressed with his game overall. Of course you could also argue that a player that scores such a vital goal to get the team 3 points had a good performance irrespective of the rest of the match. I understand your point of view, but we'll agree to disagree.

But is that performance really enough for him to warrant being called the best in the world like you did after PSG's win last night? He's doing it in the 5th best league in the world atm, while Messi is in the best. Sure he's done well for himself in the CL so far, but 5 matches, 4 against minnows doesn't convince me that he's better than Messi.

If you want to make such ridiculous claims wait till he does it in the CL knockout rounds or in the World Cup before you start saying he's the best, which at that point would be fully justified.

Mate, you didn’t watch the match. Please stop bull shitting.

Stop using straw man, mate. I watched the match. I said I understood your perspective, but I had a varying opinion.

Now because you couldn't rationally respond to my arguments in the 2nd and 3rd paragraphs you try pulling this petty shit? It's clear as day that you cannot justify the claim you made earlier that Neymar is "the best player in the world".

- First, stating you didn’t watch the match isn’t a straw man, but an observation. It’s fairly obvious.

- Given that you didn’t watch the match, there’s no reason to engage with you as you’re out of your depth.

- My claim that Neymar is the best in the world isn’t based only on his match against Troyes, but his form since moving to PSG.

- My claim that Neymar is the best in the world isn’t based only on his match against Troyes, but because he signed for PSG.

Fixed that for you.

I watched the match, secondly I addressed why he isn't the best in the world in my previous post, but of course you didn't read that nor respond to it. You rather distracted from that point by simply restating your claim that I didn't watch the match. That's pretty clearly a straw man.

What’s there to respond to? You don’t value players stepping up in crucial moments to secure points for their teams, while I do.

There is a bit of double standards.

Watching individual higlights of Messi v Valencia and Neymar v Troyes Messi gives the ball away more cheaply a lot than Neymar does.

Yet Messi finally breaks them down with a brilliant pass when on of those risky moves pays off and he is hailed for it while Neymar people try to write off fact he scored and created to win the game for PSG and point to poorer moments in game.

Granted it was Troyes and Valencia but the two get judged very differently when both did make the moments for their team in the end and both had poorer moments before it.

Messi was trash against Valencia, he made a great pass late in the game, but that doesn't change the fact that he was horrible otherwise. Nobody's arguing that Messi's performance against Valencia was better than Neymar's performance against Troyes, because it wasn't. I was just alluding to the fact that I was not overly impressed by Neymar in that match and he's not a better player than Messi yet.

I do agree with you on the part that some people have a clear agenda against Neymar after he turned his back on us in the summer and have a negative bias towards him as a result of that resentment.
