Has anyone else noticed this lately:
1. he gets the ball at a LW
2. then he stops and slows down
3. then he turns his back to an opponent's goal and starts to run towards our goal (his famous backwards dribbling)
4. but a new level of this is now: then he starts to run slowly and an opponent is on his back
-- and even though he can pass the ball to a teammate and lose his marker and ask for a 1-2 down the left wing or something, it seems as if he "enjoys" in having an opponent on his back.
It just seems that he enjoys this type of provoking/teasing (I don't mean that he is actually provoking him in a bad way).
But what I am trying to say: when he does that, it is clear from the plain that NOTHING efficient will happen from that action and if he will keep the ball for 10+ seconds with an opponent on his back (and running towards our goal), an opponent will touch him/kick him eventually, he will fall down as if he was shot with 12 bullets, we will get a foul and ruin the flow of an action.
He is doing that a lot in the last few weeks.
So, basically, he takes the ball and says: I won't pass it to anyone, I will run for 10-20 seconds with it towards our goal. I will do it slowly and tease my opponents and at a first, slightest touch, I will foul down and Barca will get a foul (but 30-40 meters from an opponent's goal).
Some will say: opponents are fouling him because he is so good and they can't stop him in any other way.
Well, in some cases that is true. But in probably 30-50% of his actions, he is being fouled because he don't want to pass the ball and he is "asking" opponents to eventually foul him.
This is just a one short episode, but it perfectly shows why he will never be Messi or any other top-top player.
He just enjoys too much in these teasing, showboating and drawing attention.
He played his best months of a career when he managed to kill those natural instincts and when he wasn't an original Neymar, instead he played fast, simple, efficient.
When he returned to his true self (like currently) with showboating, he is only a half of a player which he could have been.
Do I have to mention trying two pirouettes at the edge of a box around minute 85, at score still 1:1?
