I don't understand it either. 180m+ for 28 year old winger? Also, his salary is 30m+ a year. Why do people want him so badly? Especially with his injury record. Lol
Probably the nostalgia factor and thinking He's the same person as he was when he was here.

Imagine if Messi wasn't able to step up as Ronaldinho's successor and still struggled with injuries and never being able to fulfill that potential. People would get all nostalgic bringing R10 back even though the man isn't the same player as he once was due to partying and various other problems that plagued him during his final season at Barca.

Neymar was one guy that I had hopes of not falling for that same trap, but while it seems he's gotten better in terms of his abilities, he was plagued with injuries and off the field issues during his time at PSG gives you R10 Flashbacks in his later years.

Neymar just fucked up big, and he's paying the price for it now.

Agree, well the reason could be: fans do not pay the salary - it is the club.
As a fan I like to see the world's best players in the team, if they are injured half the time, bad luck ... but C. Perez (sorry for this example) can be fit and ready 365/365, he won't win us this CL.

btw: How do we know that Noymore costs *really* 180millions ? Hear/say? Is it possible that his current fitness level and injuries bringt down this number... I mean who pays full price for an apple with a worm?

Some say Son would be a good fit on the left side... yea, if he is willing to come...

Why do you wanna buy an apple with a worm? It's not like you're poor to take such a step!

You know who buys players who've become fragile? The ones who can't afford a star and are desperate to survive! Like how we bought Vermaelen - which was a stupid decision that only reflects the board's lack of scouting, courage to bet on a rather unproven player!

btw, if we buy Neymar, not just are we buying a player who fucked us real hard; but also getting someone who's always on the treatment bed whilst ruining our financial structure thereby pulling us down to dust - meanwhile ruining a young potential gem in Fati; imagine buying a Ryan Giggs or a Pavel Nedved in early 2000s, we never would have been retained the best player in the history

Money's important to fans, because it plays an important role in transfers. We waste 189m on neymar we won't be able to spend it on more important areas of the pitch.

We're in desperate need of a world class winger, we could have gotten neymar this summer and didn't because we had already wasted 120m on griezmann. Our budget matters, a lot.

We still need a creative midfielder, CBs and a winger. 180 on neymar is just nonsensical.

After the coutinho and dembele fiasco, the most id spend is 100m and that's on a player with at least 5 years of peak performance. Not on a 28 year old injury prone Brazilian.

Correct, but the board has a tendency to go for mega-deals, that sells well in the media and helps in bargaining broadcast contracts - for this, big names are important, not clever football decisions :-(
So I see it is more likely that we spend 180m for 1 old chap that might bring something to the table - instead of investing say, 2x 90 million in 2 upcoming good player, that are better value over time. But the "amigos-on the field" won't support that. They have a say - so it seems. This is why there is a chance/risk Ney will come. Oversimpifed: Ney wants it, Amigos wants it, board wants it.

Maybe we arrange a loan for the rest of the season ... but PSG wont allow that.

Absolutely it is, at the same time things happen because the parties involved have an interest in this scenario happening - not because it is overall a good idea for the club/fans. In this forum we look at the fans perspective - the players might have completely other ideas. :-(
Maybe: Neymar wants to play in warm Spain, Messi wants to play in the fall of his carreer with friends and caliber of his class, ...

Quotes by Emmanuel Petit:-

Petit critisiced Neymar’s attitude and also said he isn’t as good as some of the players he has played with in the past.

===
“When I played with Zidane or Djorkaeff, I knew they were able to decide a game on their own, so we accepted their defensive neglect,’ Petit told RMC Sport.

“We accepted it and did our job because we knew they could win with a flash of genius.

“This is not the case, at all, with Neymar. This guy plays for him, and only for him."

“Put yourself in the place of the boys in the place of the PSG dressing room, who live for months with the whims of this guy who s**** on the club and their supporters; he has no respect.”

Petit has hard feelings - maybe adequate due to what happened, but Neymar saving PSG twice in the last minutes this fall in liga.
AND it was faty/rusty/slow Neymar, last Wednesday who was crutial in the midfield in the CL against for the late 2-2 ...

so Petit's view might be in line with the PSG supporters, but as long as Ney delivers, it does not matter....

It does matter if Barcelona are thinking of paying £200m for the guy.

Reading your posts, it’s clear you are on the Neymar to Barcelona boat, but even though you may not realize it, your own words “fatty Neymar” should be enough to bring caution, even though there are 100 more things about him and his life to bring caution.

How can a professional athlete allow himself to get fat? He gets paid £900k a week wages as compensation for him to make sacrifices in his life (ie not eat cream cakes/booze), It’s not as if he’s been bedridden.

If there are only 2 options either in or out and I am responsible I would not risk it - but hey that is why I am not Barca president.
1. I do agree the risks in his comeback to Barca, all valid reasons that you brought up: insures-prone, wild partying, no loyality, way to expensive ...
2. AT THE SAME TIME I acknoledge that there are forces (amigos, ney, board) that want him to come back
3. AAAND at the same time, yes, I still admire his skills and hate his divings
does that make me a dumb fanboy ?

true (....but what if they gave him Cortisone, which makes you look like a sponge?)

Afaik the majority doesn't want him (because of all the baggage that comes with him) , just take the forum poll for instance.

No, Petit is not reflecting PSG supporters viewpoint.

Most national media/pundits like to talk shit about PSG because it sells. They can't let a day pass without criticizing Neymar/Mbappé/Verratti for one or another reason. They even found a way to criticize Tuchel for making Icardi his starting number 9 instead of Cavani, arguing it is a lack of respect for the Uruguayan. They even said they prefer a Cavani in 1 leg than an Icardi in 2 legs while Cavani is a shadow of himself...

Copperpot is only showing his ignorance about french media/pundit by quoting Petit. Any french person or anyone familiar with sport media could have told you those guys are stupid fucks with stupid opinions. Same with Dugarry/Sagnol/Papin etc. They were big names in the game but are idiots when it comes to commentating. The only former french player i know who doesn't talk too much bs is Thierry Henry but he showed he was a mediocre coach.

There are ofc PSG supporters who hate Neymar. However, it is not for the reason exposed by Petit but because they are angry he wants to leave while he has not been here for that long and injured for a long part.

Petit sounds bitter. Imagine how high your standards must be if you believe Neymar can’t decide games on his own or have flashes of genius lol

What are you talking about? I'm only posting news, there's negative comments posted about Neymar all the time (almost daily) so I'm sorry you don't like that.

Also Petit is a well respected ex-professional footballer, you might call him "a stupid fuck with stupid opinions" but I'm sure i speak for many people here, I'm more interested in his views and any ex/current footballer/manager for that matter, than the views of some random guy on the internet called 'Newcomer' who posts on the Barcaforum, who's maybe a student/plumber or ice cream man.
