Neymar went to Germany last year to have a second opinion from the top orthopedic surgeons in the World in Stuttgart. They came up with the same diagnosis. His ligaments are very weak and he can sustain an injury even without any physical contacts with other players. That is when the doctors called it CHRONIC. There is no cure for that.

I could understand trading Dembele, Rakitic for Neymar as it appears Tuchel would love to have him again.

But that should be the limit, there's no reason to compromise the team by trying to add the likes of Semedo, Todibo, Arthur there to go along with those two. I don't even get the point of adding Todibo in there when they already have bought Dallo and Todibo has a better chance of game time here. If them it will be another CB they don't need, but for us, it would leave us short in a position that has forced us to loan Murillo back in January.

Neymar is good but it comes to a point where there's no need to compromise the team especially when we wouldn't have the money to actually fix it right away.

It's maybe like that, maybe not. Everyone will know it in a very short time.

But I think 90% of Barca fans here have no idea how a transaction of this large volume is usually done in the sports world.
Barca is one of the the largest clubs on Earth, therefore the club has plenty of sponsors, industrial ones and private alike.

If the club wants to buy a 2nd goalkeeper or Denis Suarez, they usually do not care. But if it comes to Neymar, one of the best footballers on the planet with a HUGE MARKETING value, they start thinking differently.
So it is highly possible if Barca really want Neymar (I was quite reluctant to believe that but it seems to be true) then there are at least half a dozen billionaire private sponsors and maecenas, who can help the club in case they also like the deal and if it is true that Barca has less cash than usually.

So let's say they buy Neymar for 200 millions, at least half of that can be relatively easily gathered from anonym but helpful sponsors, and Neymar's extremely high marketing value can easily bring tens of millions in a year or so.

I do understand that some folks here always worry about the financial situation of the club, but that's not really needed.
Barca can relatively easily manage 200 if they want it - with a little help from some friends, that is.

There is no real reason to think the last issue was a metatarsal injury. Just baseless rumors trying to stir things up. And he is not going to play through a broken bone if that was the case.

It's all very strange. But Neymar is just too big of a name for PSG to keep hostage and unhappy. Verratti, Rabiot ... meh. Those 2 can be benched or frozen out and nobody will care that much. Neymar on the other hand would be disastrous if benched. Imagine the circus. Would be unworkable. They'd have to bet that he loves playing so much that he'd tough it out. Or ... they are just offloading him due to injury risk. Cutting their losses and moving on. Big debacle for PSG either way.
