Idea of Fati to Brighton was also because of their fantastic development setup and environment, and to let him bring his game back under De Zerbi- who was on our managerial shortlist.

On both accounts it didn't really workout.

Even Zerbs himself has gone to somewhat obscurity since moving to Marseille. Doing a decent job, but no longer talked about in the top echelions.

So yeah not a terrible move thought process.

Porkchop is fine but they need some financial guarantees. Porto here are making 60million from an original 6m outlay. Of that they make 40m profit, with the additionally expenses (3m for 20% added rights and then 20% of transfer fee) only paid out because of guaranteed sale.

So that's a 10x return. If we loan then these clubs are not going to make money for us unless we make money for them.

Now maybe we can look at the Braga's for loans we are looking to bring back.

That 3mill for 20% is crazy work, whoever signed off on that, should get a little pull over in the office and a what where you thinking.

Then we move on.

I wanted him to stay, but he didn't show much of anything in his loan spell at Valencia and that is what probably pushed them to sell him.

8m transfer fee. 13.3m from the clause. 3m to remove percentage of clause.

24.3m. I'm content. It's the sort of deal that if Uncle Flo did it, the perma negative mob would be frothing about masterclass.

I wish him the best and hope he smashes it in the EPL.

Talking about Braga.

FM legend Roger Fernandes is worth considering too. Was good last year, not so much production so far this season but would be cheaper than most other options.

Had him in my Braga save, did well first season and half, then sold him to Liverpool (well, they paid his clause) for 32m, now three years later (he's still only 21, lol) he's on transfer list there for 39m. I considered bringing him back when Quenda (who I've signed as his replacement) wanted to leave but he now changed his mind so offered him a new contract. Also signed both Kendry Paez and Mastantuono (with 42m buy option too which shouldn't be hard to execute as we currently have 150m transfer budget, lol) on loans and also have three of my other favorite wonderkids (Bardghji, Ouedraogo and Sverre Nypan) and then German tank Nelson Weiper who is scoring for fun upfront.

Won three straight Porkchop leagues (finished unbeaten in two of them) and are now on a 60+ games unbeaten streak (also 25 consecutive wins and counting back to last season, IIRC we beat 50 year old Benfica record). Got to CL semis last season too. Oh, and we had Gavi on loan for second half of the season. Got him sent off in one of the games but didn't really do much else, lol.

20m for a player than never kicked a ball for us, is a good deal.

Went to Porto and developed, he wouldn't have here.

Only thing that could have been better is a de jong nico swap, but shit happens.

'never kicked a ball for us'?
What are you smoking?
He was kicking a ball for our 1st team from 21 to 23, until mighty Xavi Hernandez decided he is not Busquets so let's ditch him

Lol dude you know what I mean.

Stop blowing every thing out of proportion dude.

It's worked out for the player and the club, we weren't getting more than that for him anyways.

Well, it hasn't...
Here is the thing:

it all depends on how Nico would turn out at City
- If he is bad there, and if he can't make it to Tier 1 clubs in general, then yes 20m in total for him was a good deal

- if on the contrary, he bosses the md at City, then it would go down as one of the most horrible deals in our history.
Losing one of our own that turned WC on the cheap, with another intermediary club making more than us on him.
Would be one of the worst deals ever

One of the Marca comments.

23.5 kilos the total of the operation for Barcelona... spectacular operation by Joker Laporta, especially when he came from going out a lot at night for Valencia, he didn't finish a game in good condition and was injured a lot, and yes he was a very good player but Barcelona had only cracks in the middle, he did well to leave and Barcelona to sell him and it seems that he is well sold.

---

May explain why and Xavi were fine to let him go, but doesn't explain why Porto were able to secure the extra 20% nominal fee.
