We should stop now with this narrative to defend him.
There was a doubt that with his mindset and with health, he would be better.
We now see that we "top form" Dembele, we reached only the Europa league and are destroyed by bayern, Real.

He's an huge part of the problem because with him here, we think, at least here we have a decent player on the Right wing
But as soon as we need a clutch player for an important game. he isn't here (Maybe one match out of 10)

He's like a cicle of eternal hope and desillusion, time to load him off and invest in new player. I'd even take Abde over him at this point

Getting destroyed by Bayern and Real isn't majorly his fault, our defensive issues are obvious to the world. Taking Abde over him also shows a bias, cause Dembele is obviously better.

 Leao... terrible option.

100m for him, how many matches did he decide in CL?

ZERO

Let's see him making a big difference at the World Cup and we can talk. Jota being injured and all I expect he will start for Portugal. He'd better considering the hype.

He'd be worth a shot at 35-40m as it stands. That's it.

Contract up in 2024. Maaaybe you could squeeze a slight better deal out of that. But you are going to have to face 4 or 5 top funded EPL sides for his signature and they have money to blow.

We should look for players who are consistent on their touch. Even Raphinha whom I generally like is deficitary in his touch, either superb or bad, nothing in the middle. Leao is like that as well.

We need someone more like Salah, Foden, Mahrez, than someone like Dembele (Xavi has to fucking wake up too btw, the way he uses wingers is simply antiquated, and simply too reliant on individual quality which he simply don't have at a high enough level and also lack the purchasing power of clubs like PSG to acquire that sort of quality anytime soon). The only dribble machines that are great enough to consistently rely on pace and dribbling ability are Mbappe and Vinicius because they have unreal pace and are also consistent in their technique. Everyone else is like settling for the same profile with half the quality just for the sake of it.

We already made this error with Dembele big time, 5-6 years on and he is still hit and miss just like at Rennes probably.

to be fair Sergh he plays for Ac milan....not easy to decide there big matches in cl

you can see here he has worldclass dribbling, against James ! He on left would be the nightmare for every RB

That is true. Unfortunately, the fees we're talking about require more. Simple as that. Right now, every club can just put these absurd sums forward while the player is barely tested at anything close to the level he is expected to perform at after the sum is paid.

This is simply not the right approach for us. PSG can pay 100m and if the players flop, they just get another 300-400m in the club via QSI. No biggie.

We had 3 players we signed for 100+ millions in recent years and all of them flopped in royal fashion. The 4th one will put us under. How much money will be recoverd from the 400m + wages wasted on Coutinho, Dembele, and Griezmann? Probably a tiny tiny amount. Less than a Messi extension bonus probably from back in Barto's romp.

Yeah it's risky, let's see how he will perform in WC, the problem is though if he performs well his transfer fee will raise + more teams will try to get him.

Dembele is the ultimate minnow basher, but a total scrub usually versus any good team. We'll keep him around until we sign someone better. Would love to have someone like Chiesa instead of him. Not possible though sadly.

Fantastic game by him. Now if he could play like this consistently vs. top teams too then yes he would be a top five/top three winger in the world, but so far he has not proven it more than five years into his Barca career. Maybe there's still hope though, but not overly optimistic.
