I wanted to dive into this last week, when it popped my mind.
Follow both Ajax and Barca on instagram, and if you look at their training stories, it seems Barca is only doing standing rondos where nobody moves an inch.
Looking at Ajax, they play a lot of small pitch soccer passing, where constant moving of position is essential to keep the ball.

Also Real, Liverpool, Dortmund and Bayern seem to have been moving away from rondos more and more, and training a hybrid form of rondos, in which players need to keep moving while pressing for possession or keep possession.

Desperate time to have a reflection on the form and intensity of our training.

Barcelona and their methods are too old. We are living in the past in many ways. The old glory days... They don't work Any more. The game has changed.

Bullshit, Pep spoke about the importance of Rondos many times

Rondos are almost staticly done in a small place, which is good for a joyful warmup exercise but nothing else.
It has nothing to do with elements of contemporary football.
Frankly I don't remember Pep praising rondos, but I'm sure he himself has passed that long ago.

Dembele is twice the talent Gnabry is but look at Gnabry motivation, intensity, off ball movement, runs in behind and clinical finishes. No flashy movement, no excessive dribling. Drible, pass, run in behind. Repeat. That’s what Dembele need to do but I’m now 90% convinced this guy doesn’t have the motivation it takes. He should get a warning somehow. I’m sure he is taking it for granted playing for Barcelona, while Gnabry has been in the fuxking Championships with Tony Pullis.

True. Dembele is good example of a guy who has the talent but no effort. He could be world class but the guy is too careless. You can see it on the field with his sloppy passes and movement etc.

He doesn't have fighting spirit either.

Hilarious to see people still blaming it all on the players, saying how injury prone they are (or in this case suddenly became) since they never were before in their previous clubs, meanwhile our manager openly came out and said he doesn't give a shit about physical preparation, but sure, all fault must be on the players. Dembele under Pep or Klopp would be about Mane or Sterling level right about now, and he's still only 22!

Rondos are things 10 year-olds do for fun and just stick growing up playing football. It's importance is I guess in development of short passing and better base of decsion making in terms of passing options.

I watch Barca training videos on a daily basis and I only see the squad doing rondos , shooting at the goal , shooting at the goal after crosses and that's all. I've seen 0 physical training exercises so far in the last 2 years and i might have skipped a few vids only. I also don't count running 5-10 meters between poles at low speed and then shooting at the goal as a physical exercises , lol.

Valverde ( disgusting piece of shit ) probably thinks that the team running in the oficial game is all the physical need the team requires.

Guys, rondos are key for any possession team. The problem is the clown doesn't understand what they are and why they are important.

He probably does them because in his head it's what he thinks a Barca manager is supposed to do.

Rondos are a perfect training element, because it means you can outplay 2/3 players without movement. But as above, training at Barcelona misses physical/endurance elements into play next to rondos.

Look up videos from City, Liverpool & Ajax. They do a lot of 4 a side, with 3 men playing hybrids on 15 by 10 pitches. Here players need constant moving and passing.

Even I do them twice a week at soccer training, and it’s the most demanding exercise because you need to move, look and think at the same moment.
