Call me crazy guys but im sure we could have beaten Bayern with Dembele and Fati on the pitch, and maybe Puig instead of Busquets. Bayern gave us too much space but we couldnt take adavantage of it as we lacked speed players.

There was a window in first half where we were superior, and game was screaming for someone like dembouz. Im not sure that we would win that, but bayern wouldnt go that far with their backline. They crushed us knowing that we dont have any pace upfront.

So is it a stretch to say Koeman did more for Dembele's development in a short amount of time than the 3 years he played under Valverde?

Sure Dembele had some bad injuries but despite that, it seems Koeman has done a better job at getting through Dembele with his methods and messaging.

Why are you guys so obsessed with bashing Valverde? Compared to his small runs of good form back in 18/19 and late 17/18, Dembele's current form isn't anything special or out of the ordinary. The dude was literally scoring solo goals against several teams in 18/19 and completed 6-8~ dribbles within a single match at least three times within the space of a month under Valverde. He's less rusty with the basics, but not one performance this season is better than the ones he had against Leganes/Levante/Villareal/Sevilla/Spurs/Chelsea in 17/18 and 18/19.

Some of you are way too eager to suck off Koeman. lol

I support Koeman, but wouldnt say thats true. Dembele was improving slowly under Valverde as well and learned the fundamentals of playing for Barca, also arrived at the club under Valverde.
When Koeman arrived he kind of already had overcome the most difficult hurdles. Feel like he has been continuing the same hard work he started under Valverde(shift in mentality already happened before Koeman). But Koeman could be the one that makes his development faster. Do feel Koeman has worked with the whole team on improving the passing.

I'm not bashing him, it's just some players are better under different managers.

If you compare his overall game, I dont think it's close and he still has those positive features. He has less negative features now compared to then.

I'd say it is a mixture of experience, maturity and self-development over time. That being said, Koeman is a coach who is very directly communicating to players what they need to improve and what he expects from them. I still think Valverde was a decent coach, but Koeman comes across as more straight-forward and I'd guess he gives players a clearer idea what they should do on the pitch while Valverde was more laissez-faire. Media were reporting a lot about Dembele being a kid. Maybe Koeman is a better leader for him. At least he doesn't look as clueless as he used to, especially with his movements off the ball/defending.

Messi slapping Dembouz to assert dominance with fears that Dembele is coming for the captain's armband.

There is a difference now, even if he doesn't have a great game, he is a lot more mature in his passing and decision making. The foul for the 3rd goal came after a run from him, and gave Griezmann the assist for the 4th.
