I actually don't consider him the biggest flop in Barca history.... I consider him the biggest flop in football history. What a waste of money. he could be decent, but he don't have the work ethic of elite football players. Just a child in a man's body.

Coutinho is a bigger flop. Dembele's onfield contributions>>>>>>whatever Coutinho has done for Barca.

I take Coutinhos first six months over whatever Dbele has done. That was actually great.

I keep hearing about how great Coutinho's first 6 months were, but I thought he was below average. Of course he was even worse the following season.

I also thought the initial 4-4-2 formation that Valverde used to fit in Coutinho put a cap on the team's potential. Yeah Coutinho was so-so but the team likely wasn't going to win the CL anytime soon.

The technical staff screwed up big time by thinking he could be a central midfielder.

Coutinho couldn't play in CL that season. I doubt we lose vs Rome with him. We were relying too much on Suarez and Messi and old Iniesta.

How could a player play greatly under X coach the first 6 months, and then his form take a sharp dip suddenly under the same coach?
When he didn't get injured or lose any quality sporting wise?

More investigation is needed here into the reasons.

Both are shit on stick flops of the highest order. Griezzyboy is slightly better. But between Countinho and Dumbele, i choose...Braithwaite. Yeah, no kidding, That;s how bad they are for Barca.

Then what happened to him at Bayern where he started off very well and was benched and sucked?

No Messi there.

#MullerEffect then?

Same crap that has been answered 1000 times already. But some of you will go around repeating nonsense for ever.

They were playing a system without no 10, or interior, and he could not find a spot.
Muller is a different player, he is trash on the ball, but intelligent in off the ball movement and pressing.
Practically the opposite of Coutinho.
That's why Flick used him only as a winger, whenever played him, which he is not either.

Personal issues?
Just like what happened with Hleb, Adriano, Bravo and ton of other stories we don't know about.
Not all of things that happened to player is related to football reasons

He had 30 appearances as an attacking midfielder in the center for Bayern Munich in 19/20. When Hansi Flick was appointed, there was more experimentation with him on the left and right wings, you're right about that; however, Flick also employed him as an attacking midfielder on the center and you know what's actually funny, as an LW Coutinho had just as much end product as he did back when he was playing as an AM for Kovac. Coutinho played as an AM just as much as he did an LW, and he tended to fair better on the latter.

There's no "statistical evidence" detailing Coutinho playing on the wings was detrimental to his performances.
