So are we screwed with this fuker staying here injured for another year while playing playstation? Biggest injury prone flop in the history of football

The people who scouted this man child, as a Neymar replacement are earning millions. Let that sink in.

Who scouted him? No scout makes a lot of money?!

Don't know the specific person or the actual salary. According to an article I found you could make up to 100.000$ / year. For Greece at least this is at the very top of employ salaries. You have to be a CEO to earn that much here. Perhaps for UK it's not much.

I think it is up to what type of scout.
A friend of mine knew a youth scout for Arsenal, and it was a side job. He was actually working as a banker full time. So clearly they aren't paid enough at that level.
Probably those who scout top end talents are paid handsomely but I doubt it would still touch the "millions"

Hindsight is always 20/20.

There is nothing wrong with people who scouted him. He was talented. Robert Fernandez wanted to sign him before he went to Dortmund but we had MSN back then and Dembele knew he wouldn't play much so he made the right step for his career at that point.

I think the club had very positive scouting reports on him but the main problem is he was a panic buy after Neymar left and whole world knew we've had 220m to spend. If we'd wait for a season we could probably get him for half the price. But OTOH in alternate universe I'm sure people would also complain why we didn't sign him if he'd go to Liverpool/City for 70-80m, stay fit and fully develop his potential which he never had a chance to do here.

People wouldn't complain as much if we'd buy him from Rennes for 15-20m and on much lower wages relative to transfer fee (And if we'd know Neymar will backstab us a year later we could've probably convince Dembele to join us - maybe loan him for a season to get regular minutes - as he was a Barca fan). If he'd turn out injury prone we'd surely already give up on him after 2-3 years but we would probably manage to sell him for some profit because teams would still believe in his potential.

Dembele was (and is) a very talented player, i mean it's not like he was some random bum no other club was after. But buying him for 130M after just one good season at Dortmund where he wasn't even a starter the whole time was extremely risky and it didn't pay off.

I also think it didn't exactly help his character development that he didn't really have to proof much to get this huge contract at his dream club, and that we were okay with how the transfer went down with him forcing his way out wasn't the best signal as well.

Exactly, i remember when people said he is better than Mbappe before signing us. Nobody could have expected that he will become a injury prone and doesnt develop. He was fantastic against bayern in 2017 dfb semi final, great assist and goal.
