Joan Laporta: ?Dembele wants to stay. His agents want the best for him, but sometimes the best thing is not money. I'm clear - Dembele is better than Mbappe.

BOMBSHELL!!!

Dembele to Laporta when he realizes he can't play under such a delusional president.

I want to see one season in which Dembouz shows his real abilities, im sure he can give us a lot more than we have seen.

Me too but i doubt he will be here next year as it is now. We lost too much money on him. The only reasonable thing is to offer him a contract based on how much play, as we did.
On the other hand that is a bad deal for Dembele. He have no idea if he can stay fit or not. His best option is to get a normal contract from clubs like United, PSG or even Newcastle. Then he ensure a good salary for the next 2-5 years.

I doubt we will give in to his agent’s demands concidering we sold Grizzy and let Messi go this summer.

Overall, It’s quite a shitty situation for us. Hopefully we can find a compromise but it does not seem very likely.

It's kinda cringe how he says that while offering Dembele a performance based salary.

No no, it's like this:

You're better than Mbappe, so you will hit those performance-based clauses with ease. You will make even more money than with a fixed salary. It's mind games dawg...

Dembele won't take that deal. No one in his position will take it.

Might as well he goes to China or Qatar, as he surely gets a salary of 10M a season without the hassle of performance/appearance based bonuses.

Chinese Super League is done, the league champion folded and the competition is in a downfall as a whole. Apparently the Communist party pulled the plug on the league.

Only grandpa footballers move to Qatar.

I am with Laporta on this.

Actually every club should give such contracts to all squad players.
If for whatever reason you are not fit, and unable to play, there is no justification whatsoever to get paid the same amount compared to when you are offering your services to your employer

The logic behind fixed salaries is obsolete and it goes back to the labor class movement and its demands of employees not getting fired or left to die whenever they were injured or incapable of labor.
And that was, and still is, a fair demand
-> But it has nothing to do with the life and ecomonic status of a professional footballer at the top level in 2021.

I get your point, but honestly, would you accept that contract if you were in his shoes and could get better elsewhere, Footballers are humans like us and every party is looking at their own interest so it might be best for both parties if he leaves, would've been better for us if we could get something for him since we paid massively but then you lose some and gain some.
