He is not fulfilling it.
He has to decide whether to collect compensation and leave in amicable way or having his contract unilaterally rescinded

As I said a few weeks ago: Moussa and Ousmane are going to learn some hard ethics lessons this spring

Dembele has more power at this point, we're just fighting a pointless and unnecessary battle, however, one sure way to end things would be to terminate his contract and pay him his full wages, it'll make a statement but Dembele also leaves with his full wages for doing nothing.

HE thinks he is in full control because he is an IDIOT who trusted a cunt (Moussa) on this.

He is getting his salary anyway

Let me tell you what he is NOT in control of:
Whether he is going to even be able to TRAIN from now on

Lets see.

You think Dembele cant get paid up and then play for anyone else this season?

Barca will have failed on every objective they have... no Dembele renewal, no improved accounts and no salary saved.

Masterclass.

Few weeks ago you were the biggest simp for Dembele with stats showing how world class he is now... think he will struggle to get a decent contract.

JAmmy, he can't play this season for anyone else even if he gets letter of freedom.
He can't move to another club before the summer transfer window starts

He lost and he didn't even realize, thinking he can pull his show and still continue playing and starting for Barca as if nothing had happened

You sure about that?

The article you linked to stated otherwise.

Barca lost and trying to take Dembele down with them... in situation he chose not them.

Some battles aren't worth fighting, there's a reason why many clubs don't go this route with their players in the last 6 months of their contract

Whether that's a W for him, we will see in a few months in the offers that will come for him
(oh my hunch tells me that they will be even lower to the best one from barca he rejected)
and in his condition after 6 months of inactivity
and his chances of going to WC
and his career afterwards

What a W it will be...
So all you are talking about is some kind of 'revenge'on Dembele, but where has the club actually benefitted from this? Do they get his salary off? Do they gain sportingly? Did they get a fee?

That's what you think about in business, not how you get revenge on your employee for not renewing.

God forbid Alemany is sitting there planning on how to get a 'W' over Dembele rather than do good business.

lIf Barcelona release Ousmane Demb?l? now, even though he would become a free agent, he would not be able to join a new club until the start of next season.

@planetabarcaa

Someone has to confirm this, but it looks like he will not be playing for ANY club until June

They are just desperate to make out club 'wins'.

Despite failing on all outcomes that would benefit the club.

Masterclass.

Lets see what FIFA/UEFA or courts have to say if Barca try to manufacture a situation to put someone out of football for 6 months.

The first alternative would be the most comfortable for both parties: the club gives the player the freedom letter, who from then on is a free agent, and his file continues to be paid until he finds a team. In this sense, Barcelona can save a significant percentage of the wage bill and the player has time to choose the team that he considers most convenient. However, to accept the letter of freedom there must be a prior agreement between the two parties, something that, as this newspaper has learned, does not exist, because Demb?l? is not willing to leave.

Which was not my understanding of rules either.... unless he means a club pays to train him which seems bizarre and would not mean he 'cant train' either.

Not sure releasing him and putting him out of football until summer would be a straightforward as you think.

IT's not revenge exactly, it's more a statement to everyone out there (players and agents) that you can't fuck with the club
There are things that go beyond wages and book balance
I explained it in many posts

Right.
Let me put it better:
The difference between 'letter of freedom' and 'unilateral rescind of his contract' is this:
in the former case he is getting paid until he find a new club, which he CAN join
in the latter case he gets the whole lumpsum until the summer, but he CAN't join any club until then

Seems clear that any rational agent acting for his own benefit would pick the first, if presented with the two options.
Is Dembele rational? Let's see

He did fuck with the club.

The club failed with every objective they had on Dembele.

Great look for club... dont renew on our terms and we will put you out of club football for six months.

They gain nothing and that will not be attractive to anyone looking to sign.

So that is not what was claimed before... but are you saying he can train/play for another club if gets letter of freedom?

Once again it will be Dembeles choice how it all goes.

As if any agent would give a shit about such a "statement". Next Sissoko will still try to get his client to Barca, and will still try to squeeze us for money.

These people won't just be scared of the mighty strong Barca to not try any of their usual tricks.

You think that Moussa Sissoko will manage to get one of his client to Barca EVER AGAIN after that shit-show??
Don't think so
