Ousmane Dembélé

In terms of effectiveness, RIGHT NOW it is:
1 Salah
2 Dembele
3 Lamine
4 Saka

In terms of aesthetics:
1 Lamine
2 Dembele
3 Saka
4 Salah
Lamine is much more well rounded as a player. Overall a better player than Dembele, and has proven himself in big matches. Some goals in farmers league, against the worst city in the last 20 years and Stuttgart doesn't change that.

The talent to do everything is there. But He needs to mature more.
Some of his decisions are still raw.

Lamine Vs Dembele
Same debate as Vinicius vs Dembele before
There are simply not the same level

Dembele is several level under them

So it wasn't about City being poor this season, but the fact that PSG dominated them in all categories (possession - 64-36; shots 26-9), I remember Carragher saying it was like Men against Boys; I haven't seen a team dominate City that badly even in this season, like City still dominates most times even when they lose. Against Tottenham City had 58 - 20 possession, 23 - 9 shots. Against Sporting, City had 73 - 27 possession and 20 - 9 shots.

I guess you can see my point now, I think Barca would win them if we faced, but I'd rather face an easy team, statpad, and get to the quarters first.
My point is City are shite now so QSG beat them and dominate them is not some historical feat.

Barca or any decent team will KO them next.

Yamal is better than Dembele so far, achieved more impact at the top despite his very young age, but if we face PSG he has to prove it on the field. Because that's what being better means, it's something you do continuously.

You cannot revert back where his age is given as an argument for not delivering, because the situation with Yamal has changed from bright talent to top tier player on his position worldwide. His elite matches in Euros, in Clasicos, have earned him this level, but he needs to keep doing it because the sample size is still small. All those things he did vs Madrid in the last 2 clasicos. Dribbles, great passes, top goals, all that stuff, need to be a factor in the bigger games from CL where the pressure will be bigger. He does that and comparison with Dembele will be misplaced, as he'll enter Vinicius and Salah territory, players that constantly deliver in big games.

It's a complete myth that Vinicius and Salah constantly deliver in big games and Lamine has been just as good as them so far this season in the ' big ' games. ( Lamine has decimated Vini in the Classics, let alone already having a better resume in international football )

The ifs and buts are just not worth pondering on as it is patently obvious that he is a crack of a generation. For example, I do not consider the argument 'but he has to improve his finishing' because it is patently obvious to me that that is a given. Nor do I even consider even for a second that Lamine won't be scoring 20-30 goals a season very soon.

Lamine is already better than Vini and Salah, regardless. Those that know, see it displayed every match. The others will catch on in a few years time.

Dembele can fuck off.

How was he injured all the time at Barca and has stayed healthy for PSG? He was a massive part of PSG beating Barca last year. I hope nothing but the worst for him in all honesty.

Not some incredible wonder. He started getting injured less at Barca also as he got older. After 25-26 and until 32-35 you are effectively in your best shape as an adult athlete.

This is basically his prime physically and in terms of maturity, so the question is if this time he will build consistency or alternate the good stuff with the dumb moments which has been the usual for him so far in his career.

We are gonna see Pedri also starting to get injured more rarely.

No way Yamal had more G+A in a single Euro than Dembele in 4 major tournaments for France.

This is effectiveness. But birdy would trade Yamal for Bumbele so i'm not surprised.

I would never trade Lamine for Dembele, because the first is still 17yrs old and has a higher ceiling, and is a La Masia product.
Plus, aesthetically, as I explained above, Lamine is above all

That said, their effectiveness is pretty measurable:
The last 2 seasons, Lamine has 0.58 non-pen goals and assists per 90 minutes, while Dembele has 0.75
Lamine has 0.58 non-p xG + xA per 90min, Dembele has 0.77

So Dembele is more effective for now, whether haters like it or not.
You can fantasize whatever you like about Dembele to channel your inner hate.
Truth is there though

Dembele stopped getting injured every other day with Koeman in charge, where the physical regime of the team changed. FACTOS

Pedri is not injured at all this season because he is doing special physical work at the gym

Players do not magically stop getting injured when older.
It happens by plan and training

Now do a FAIR comparison of their goals and assists in La Liga, playing for Barca only.

I shudder to think how much Lamine would score and assists playing for the only team that exists in Uber Eats. :bartomeu:
