Pedro Rodriguez

Villa wasn't playing against a parked bus. It is a lot harder for Barca forwards as they have much less space as Villa himself found out when he was at the club. Pedro did not have his best game but he is important to the team.

Of course Pedro is important. I was talking about last night only.

I will be honest, I might have a bad memory but I cant recall Villa making our defenders commit to many error.

And how good could his build up have been when Atletico only had 3 chances the entire game?

Look again at the goal he scored, Villa had 3 touches on the ball including the shot. Look how he fools Pique into closing on on him to open the space for Turan. That's forcing the defenders into making errors.

So he was only good in the build up for his goal, but apart from that his build up play didn't stood out?

Seriously, for some of you, Villa only needs to play average to have a good game..

I'd say that Villa had a good all round game and that Pedro was simply poor and ineffective .

Pedro should be used in games against easy opponents when we dominate, against tough opponents or parked busses he can only pass the ball. Its better to play Neymar and Messi on the sides then and Alexis in the centre.

From those stats, Villa was better but didn't have an amazing performance. Which was my point.

Oh and Alexis from those stat!:worthy:

6 tackles(the most from Barça and only defenders from atl had more), the player that dribbled the most, the most fouled player etc

This shows why Villa had a better game than Pedro.

are you seriously comparing a winger stats to a striker? :icon_confused:

not only a winger
but a winger in Barca, who tries to keep pressure and help in defense play as well, and of course, in a game where the opposition creates a perfect bunker of 11 players.

Villa on the other hand was played as the only striker.
and actually, if you really bother comparing stats of players in different roles and position -
Pedro's passing accuracy was 91 while Villa's was 73..
both had 2 key passes.
and yea, Villa shot 5 shots, while only 2 was on target, 1 was a nice goal and the other was saved.
Pedro touched the ball more and had more tackles and was generally a lot more active,

i would be happy to see the precent of area covered, as well.

Pedro should be used in games against easy opponents when we dominate, against tough opponents or parked busses he can only pass the ball. Its better to play Neymar and Messi on the sides then and Alexis in the centre.

unfortunately, even when Messi is positioned on the right wing, he always wanders around and gets to the middle a lot, (as he should imo), and from what i remember , whenever Sanchez was put as striker he would get stuck not knowing what to do there, and sometimes even interfere Messi because he's not that good on double passes or .. any action that includes some vision lol

he's better off running on the sides because he's usually a lot faster then most defenders
