Try harder? Well, they sure do a better job of closing him down. Messi has one or two defenders inside his socks whenever he receives the ball. There is almost always someone whos only job throughout the match is to watch Messi, and close him down whenever he receives the ball.

They have different positions on the field, I know, but still letting Ronaldo get that much space on the left side is ridiculous.
