In principle, yes (although people here overrate Di Maria so they can pretend Madrid's best player wasn't Ronaldo last season). But remember that Hames and Kroos are new and will certainly want to prove your statement wrong. Which means they will put in a big shift, even more than they usually would. When the overall, collective shape works and they set up to counter in 4-4-2 it doesn't matter too much. Even Malaga could defend comfortably as a collective unit with scrubs players. Also remember that Madrid had to use Isco instead of Ronaldo in the Copa del Rey and still won. The quality gap between Kroos and Alonso isn't bigger than that.
