This season Alves has been better. The amount of passes he makes through the opponent's lines is something other fullbacks don't usually do.

As far as passing, one-touch football, stops and other technical aspects of the game, the only RB who's on par or even better than Alves is Lahm. Carvajal? He's good, but, creatively, nowhere near Alves on good form.

Still is. He was better before, it's just that he has lost his pace now. Even then, he rarely loses his 1v1 duels. Also, he has shut down many left wingers this season. Probably playing for a new contract.
