The Valverde effect.

Bale looks immense now he's the main guy.
Don't know if it's universal, but Cules seem the most pessimistic.
It's the same with madridistas. A vast proportion of people overlook the 20-odd quality players we have at our disposal and focus on the fact that we sold Ronaldo and brought only Mariano as a mitigating measure and very late in the window.
Today's society is so stuck talking shit on so many different avenues, be it politics, society, religion, even their hobbies like football. Garrus made a nice reference to people and dopamine addiction with Valverde thread basically being a neverending abyss of bullshit people like to take a dip into. Perpetual cycle of misery in seeking perfection and annoyance at not getting things right. People have forgotten the ways to be happy and are always looking for a reason as to why things suck, but pay little attention to positives. Strange stuff.
Florentino Perez said Real Madrid are not going to play any La Liga games in the USA and will absolutely refuse any such suggestion made to them.
Perez’s speech after he gave the stadium deal details was really something else. Amazing insight into his decision making as president in the last 20 years. A must read if there is an English version somewhere (I read it off the Polish fan site).
What insight?
Did he say how your new stadium will bring in 150m more every year? Right now I believe the game day portion of Real Madrid's revenue is less than 300m per year. That amounts to a 50% increase almost.
Nah, he talked himself quite a lot and about his role in saving the club from institutional ruin. About his experiences with naysayers who criticised his decisions of transfer investments into Zidane which in turn caused the club’s massive spikes in revenue, attracting sponsorship deals with Tecca and Siemens and how it pulled the club out of debt. He talked about how he kicked the hooligans off of Bernabéu receiving death threats and graffiti on his wife’s gravestone. Spoke about what his opinion is of forking out 200-300 million on one player and how it impacts the club finances and why he believes in the current project.
The current long term goal as Joan Laporta said is to become the first club with 1000 million income.
http://www.realmadryt.pl/index.php?co=aktualnosci&id=83784 - link to the Polish article, if you can use browser to translate it from the 2nd section down you can probably get the gist of it. Marca and AS excerpts do not do this transcript justice.
"We want to make the Santiago Bernabéu the best stadium in the world. An avant-garde venue that will be iconic within Madrid, that satisfies the current demands of the club members and that allows us to increase the club’s income to continue to lead the way".
"The Santiago Bernabéu is a place full of emotion for everyone here. It is part of the experiences we’re having now, and our past memories. We want a 21st century stadium with the best comfort, where members and fans will have unforgettable experiences, incorporating the newest technology. It will be one of the most attractive places for anyone visiting Madrid from anywhere in the world. We’re looking at a unique stadium in an unbeatable location, in the heart of the city itself".
Image
"The renovated stadium will have a new image, that will be unique and never before seen, a layer of steel bands and varying lines that will be lit up and will also project images. This will include a fixed and a retractable roof that covers the pitch, so that all areas, as well as new seats, will be protected. An iconic stadium, emore modern, more comfortable, safer, with a new technological concept and with new leisure, catering and entertainment areas for the whole family".
"Situated in the heart of Madrid, surrounded by all kinds of services and means of transport, and now with an entrance that will improve its urban environment: a large square next to the Castellana main road of more than 20000 m2 in size, and another of 5500 m2 in the corner of Calle Padre Damián, thereby turning Calle Rafael Salgado into a pedestrian street".
Economic soundness
"In this stadium, the legend of Real Madrid has been created, it is the home of everything Real Madrid stands for. December will mark 71 years since the stadium’s inauguration and building it was not easy in one of the toughest times in our history. Our current situation, of great economic safety, makes the club ready to tackle one of its greatest challenges: to turn the Santiago Bernabéu stadium into the best stadium in the world. Santiago Bernabéu paved the way for us. Real Madrid will have the best facilities and the most modern facilities for the best players in the world and will therefore continue to lead the way in terms of titles and in revenue".
"The new 21st century Santiago Bernabéu will be the setting for the excitement that Real Madrid has in store for the future, the best stadium in the world to be recognised again at the end of this century as home to the best club of the 21st century. A new stadium, heritage and pride of our members and fans. We think that the best formula today to face this comprehensive remodelling of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, is to resort to long-term financing. Our soundness and our financial strength allow us to do so".
Great opportunity to self-finance
"We have perfect conditions for long-term financing with low and fixed interest rates. We now have a great opportunity, this may be temporary and we should not miss this chance. Our revenues have also increased by 30% in the same period and our net debt has gone into the black by 107 million euros."
"The cost of this financing at fixed and long-term interest would mean an average annual fee of around 25 million euros, which is less than 4% of our revenues from last season and would have no impact on our sports or our sporting model."
Revenue
"The new operating model for the stadium will make us bring in more than 150 million euros extra per season, and therefore we will have more recurring and constant income to keep up our sporting and economic leadership. We want to be the first club in the world to break the 1000-million-euro revenue barrier".
Digital stadium
"We want to turn the stadium into a technological platform where we can interact with members and Real Madrid players from all over the world. Technology will be one of the essential features of the project, as an example of an interior space for e-sports, and the installation of a spectacular 360-degree video scoreboard within the stadium's architectural structure incorporating the latest digital advances. This means a digital Santiago Bernabéu stadium".
"Technological advances and the application of audio-visual media will be present in many areas of the stadium so that from their seats, members and fans can enjoy club content on their phones and tablets that liven up the experience of live games. It is what is known as the 'second screen' ".
Extension of the Museum
"There will be a spectacular expansion of the current Museum in the area of Castellana with much more floor area and a new interactive Museum will be created with the latest virtual reality technologies in the area of Padre Damián. At the same time the experience of the Bernabéu Tour will be extended with the creation of a panoramic tour around the perimeter of the roof around the entire stadium with a new offer of leisure and restoration".
Commercial fare
"The commercial side will increase in a great way: we will have two Real Madrid stores, one in Castellana and the other in Padre Damián, which will bring together all the products offered by our brand. We will also develop a new commercial concept with digital points of sale of the most prestigious electronics and consumer brands to turn common areas into a showcase for global news."
Increase in access and security
"The security, accessibility and evacuation plans for the stadium will improve substantially for all fans. The demolition of the shopping centre and the construction of the two new towers in La Castellana with new ramps, escalators and elevators, will allow a more balanced and homogeneous accessibility and evacuation. There will be better, wider access, with more entry points, especially when the Bernabéu corner disappears, and fans will have better, quicker access, by installing new escalators on the sides of Castellana and Padre Damián to the highest point of the stadium itself".
Costs
"The project, which has already been adapted meet the needs raised by the ruling of the Superior Court of Justice of Madrid, has caused an increase in costs. We think that the budget of the investment in our stadium will amount to around 525 million euros. The most important items correspond to civil works, around 300 million euros, and technological equipment and innovation, which means a cost of just over 100 million euros."
Deadlines
"We hope to get the green light early next year so that work can begin immediately. The most important Spanish construction companies would opt to take charge of these works. I want to make it very clear that no ACS Group company can participate, in compliance with the Code of Ethics of the Board of Directors of Real Madrid, as it has always been during my presidency. The estimated time for the development of the works is approximately 3 and a half years, and there will not be any changes to the sporting calendar".
"We are the club with the highest revenues in the world, this allows us to take our place in a demanding international market," added the president in his opening speech at the Ordinary General Assembly 2018.
The Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez opened the Members Committee General Assembly 2018, which was held in the Municipal Palace of Congresses, with an intervention in which Zidane, Cristiano Ronaldo and Doncic were all praised and proceedings began by paying tribute to the members and Madridistas who died in the past year, among which were the ex-players Manuel Sanchís and Jensen. The president highlighted the phenomenal moment the club is going through: "Madridistas are happy and proud. We are witnessing history in terms of the sporting, social and economic sides, which is historic. We are European champions in football and basketball in the same season for the first time in the history of sports. We are the club that has the most European Cups in football and basketball."
“Here we have la decimotercera, the 13th European Cup in football and la décima the 10th European Cup in basketball. We are enjoying exceptional institutional stability thanks to Madridismo itself and an economic independence that allows us to be masters of our own destiny".
The Thirteenth European Cup
"Our thirteenth European Cup in football has strengthened a sports project that we launched in 2000, faithful to the strategy laid out by our president, Santiago Bernabéu. With players who have already entered the Real Madrid history books and world football history, we won our third consecutive Champions League and the fourth in five seasons. Once again Real Madrid is the only team to do it and, for the first time, our team achieved the Champions League, the Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup and the Spanish Super Cup all in the same season."
"This sports project has always been linked to what we call the Bernabéu equation. It has always been the key economic and sporting equation that leads to our success. The best players in the world and in Spain itself with an emphasis on youth, and of course, taking care of our youth team as the basis of who we really are".
The squad
“We have a spectacular squad, with 11 players nominated in the FIFA World XI, which will be announced tomorrow in London: Navas, Courtois, Carvajal, Sergio Ramos, Varane, Marcelo, Modric, Kroos, Casemiro, Isco and Benzema. Among them, Modric, World Cup golden ball winner and last week named by UEFA as best player in Europe, who has now been nominated for The Best award from FIFA for best player in the world”.
“A squad designed to keep winning titles and led by Julen Lopetegui. Our coach came to Real Madrid after being Spain coach and without having lost a single match in the two years he was in charge of the Spanish national side. We have a team who are going through a period that will be remembered forever.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Zidane
"Cristiano Ronaldo is the top scorer in the history of our club and the worthy successor of Alfredo Di Stéfano. Over 9 seasons for Real Madrid he set a precedent and his career wearing our shirt will be passed down from generation to generation. With Real Madrid he has won 16 titles and scored 451 goals in 438 games. He won 4 Ballon D’or awards, 3 Golden Boots and is an example for all those who wear this shirt and for all those who dream of doing it themselves one day".
"Zidane is another our greatest representatives ever. As coach of the first team he went down as one of the great giants of Real Madrid. In just 2 years and 5 months he won the club 9 titles, including 3 Champions League titles in a row, something that nobody has achieved in the world. Zidane is one of our great legends and he knows that, like Cristiano Ronaldo, this will always be his home."
“The youth team is fundamental to help understand our identity. Each and every year we show that we have the best youth academy in the world. And not only for the 10 players that make it to the first team at Real Madrid but for the contribution the squad makes to the Spanish League, to other major leagues and other big clubs."
Real Madrid City
"September 30th marks the 13th anniversary of the inauguration of Real Madrid City. Our Madridistas are proud to have a football and values training centre, where professionals and coaches from the club itself convey what this badge and this shirt means."
Basketball
"We are also proud of our Basketball team. Here is the tenth European Cup. We also have the 34th league trophy. Of course there is the Super Cup we won last night. This legendary team, along with our coach Pablo Laso, continues to bring glory to Real Madrid and continues enjoying the most extraordinary cycles of our history."
"The tenth European Cup that we won in Belgrade once again underlines the team's dominance, with our captain Felipe Reyes leading the way, he is a symbol of the team and has played the most games in the ACB league: 761”.
Special mention for Doncic
"He came to the club at the age of 13 and will always hold Real Madrid in his heart. He trained with us as a player, grew as a person and now, after winning everything with Real Madrid, he starts his adventure in the NBA after being chosen number 3 in the draft and becoming the best player in Europe at just 19."
Economic strength
"We are the club with the most revenue from any sports institution in the world. This allows us to compete to be leaders in an increasingly tough and demanding international market. Every year we beat our own revenue record. Over the past season, 17-18, our operating income came to to 751 million euros, representing an increase of 11.3% on the previous year. During the 2000-2018 period, revenues have grown at an average annual rate of 11%. "
"We have achieved economic stability with record numbers in our 116 years of history. Real Madrid’s marketing is the activity that gives us more revenue for the club and continues to set records. Revenue from our commercial activity reached 336 million euros last season. This means a growth of 16 percent in comparison with the previous season."
Our members
"We will now look at the Real Madrid club members, the owners of our destination. We currently have 93606 members and from the club we want to continue feeding the links between us and the sense of belonging to Real Madrid. We aim for greater service and look to facilitate contact with our members, the members’ assistance office at the Santiago Bernabéu is still open, as well as the new one that has been opened in the new office building constructed over at Real Madrid City".
Real Madrid Foundation
"There is no greater commitment than we have in this club for solidarity with those who need our help, especially any children who suffer anywhere in the world. The Real Madrid Foundation is the biggest non-profit organization that educates in values through sports around the world. Throughout our years of history at the Foundation, we have changed the lives of about 900,000 children. Everything we do still seems small to us. We are currently in 80 countries with more than 900 projects. "
Our media presence
"We continue to be the institution, the brand, the sports institution with the largest global audience. The Real Madrid social networks now have more than 300 million followers. We are the club with the highest number of followers around the world and with the most followers across social networks. Realmadrid.com is still the most visited club website in the world and our television channel has been broadcast for two years throughout Spain in HD quality. Every day about 1 300 000 viewers view it. "
Blah blah blah, "the best stadium", best everything, so many hyperboles, meh.
