Zidane was a very overrated footballer.

Zidane is not overrated mate. He's one of the greatest of all time and is probably the best midfielder of all time. How overrated can he be that he won 3 FIFA World Player of the Year awards even when the pool of contenders was at an all-time high quality?

If this is lip service, then surely the "Messi is the best of all time" comments he made at Barca are also lip service. There he actually has a legitimate interest in big-upping his star player. Here he is airing his true feelings. After all, he was getting embarassed by Zidane in midfield when they played internationally.

How do you know its true? its just Pep going over board with praise like he usually does. You cant base that to be true because they played a match once internationally.

If Pep was a world-class grass in the past and then also became an expert in grass studies later, then surely yes.

And only one Ballon d'or when it was the more prestigious award back then
Zidane winning FIFA best player in 2003 was the worst choice in the history of the award and no one could even come close .even him was surprised to be picked ahead of the likes of Henry and Nedved (who wasn't even a top 3 )
The 2000 award was arguable ,I hate Figo but I think he deserved it more
Anyway ,Zidane is one of the all time greats .but FIFA award at that time isn't an argument for anything .
